Could just use a hi fi system or a PA system. Probably give you more sound than £100's worth of monitors
or cheap monitors though surely?Altered State wrote:L5D wrote:If you just want them for general listening, then there's no advantage in having monitors really.

Valid point but after listening to audio on those headphones he bought hes really not going to be up for listening to sub-par audio through a cheap hi fi!
nice one-Dubson- wrote:£170 from amazonThe_Dza88 wrote:where you get the akgs from n how much gonna gett some but everywhere keeps puting the price up

Does the job nicely. used them for a couple of house parties recently.
They won't say anything unless you're under the impression that you have to have everything as loud as it can go, pretty sure 125w speakers can be as quiet as some 10w speakers (just turn them off if you don't believe me).-Dubson- wrote:they look sick, not sure what the parents will say about them though, 125 watts might be too much
yeah its just pretty hard to keep volume down on loud speakers, i find. you just wanna turn them up!flateric wrote:They won't say anything unless you're under the impression that you have to have everything as loud as it can go, pretty sure 125w speakers can be as quiet as some 10w speakers (just turn them off if you don't believe me).-Dubson- wrote:they look sick, not sure what the parents will say about them though, 125 watts might be too much
cheers for the advice, think i'll go for bookshelf speakers though, something a bit smaller. the Roth Audio OLi1's look good.TEC-HO wrote:Yeah, no need to get monitors for djing and general listening. If you're not going to use them for production purposes, then you might as well go for an oldish hi-fi system. In the old days it was all about the Jamos and Kenwood/Yamaha ams. That shit's practically unbreakable, and well cheep nowadays too!
