To forum admins: Before classifying this msg as spam and removing it – please read it and then re-think! We are not advertising or profiting in any way, we are just interested in giving people who make music we love an opportunity to get it heard!
We are looking for small/underground grime, garage and dubstep artists to submit recorded works on our net-label (Net Lab – www.net-lab.co.uk) alongside music from a whole range of other genres (electronic, noise, ambient…). We aim to give small artists an opportunity to distribute their music in release format free of charge to an established and growing audience over the net, under a “Creative Commons” license that allows free downloading and embraces redistribution over peer to peer networks.
We are looking for artists creating interesting, innovative, or different media. Work is put out on the site for public release to a wide audience and sits alongside work by other well respected artists from labels like Planet Mu Records, Sublight and Terminal Dusk.
Although we do set a number of projects that you can submit entries for (you can see these running on the site), we also accept material that stands on its own. Added to this, we are interested in helping to organise collaborative projects, workshops and events around the UK and anything else showing innovation or creativity. If you have something you would like to share, you should get in contact.
Please send links to uploaded submissions to:
submissions@net-lab.co.uk
We also accept file transfer via YouSendIt.
Things you should know:
- Music submissions must be no less than 18 minutes in length unless agreed as part of a compilation, mix or outlined within a project specification.
- mp3 submissions must be encoded to no less (and preferably no more) than 192kbps / 44khz.
- mp3 submissions must be properly id3v2 tagged including Track Number, Track Title, Artist Name, Album Name, and Year.
- Video is accepted in most formats but is preferably viewed as QuickTime mov.
- Interactive Flash content is accepted.
- Animated gif content is accepted.
- We reserve the right not to publish any of your material totally at our own discretion.
- You retain basic rights over intellectual property of the music as it is released under the Creative Commons Sharing License.
Thank You!
Anyone involved in submitting work to Net Lab is always treated with respect and although we make take some time, we will always try to give you some form of reply to your submission. Unfortunately we cannot release everything that is submitted to us but we are very grateful for anything you send.
Looking forward to hearing your stuff.
Richard.

What do you want? Albums?
I have about 50 tracks. I'll glue them together and make a MEGAMEGAMEGA DANCE MIX.
Sorry just taking the piss. It sounds interesting. I assume there's more info at the site?

Well we're pretty open minded to be honest. We've released 11 EPs and compilations so far. If you just have a couple of tracks then we're up for putting them within a compilation, if you have a lot of good material then we'd put out an album or more. We're hoping to challenge the traditional formation of the "release" (album, ep, etc) and are up for putting out long extended works, or very short works too.
Just drop us an email with what you have in mind and some of your material and we'll get back to you.

It doesn't have to be exclusive but it does have to be rereleased for a reason.
I mean I wouldn't want to duplicate recent material already available on other net labels unless it was for good reason.
The Rob Steady release we have made was pressed by a small label in Europe some time ago, and (as usually the case) few copies were sold, so we now have rights to release it online and it has benefited from a much much wider audiencer.
But by all means send something through and explain what the situation is and we'll go on that. It's hard to make steadfast general rules.
