Post by future one » Sat Feb 07, 2009 10:29 pm

Hey can anyone tell me the name of some good bitcrusher plugins?

I'm wanting to make those 8 bit old nintendo game type sounds.

Cheers

the D16 one is amazing, but its more of an old school sampler vibe than a chiptune vibe. You on Mac or PC?

I have used this before, not sure if it's quite what you're after, but it was alright for me and it's free.
They have a VST for 8-bit percussive sounds too:

never mind, I just found out that they made a PC version. Best NES chip emulator out there.

for nintendo sounds get toad and peach. Use triangles, squares, saws, with fast arpegios, and white noise.

As for bitcrusher, go for CMT, it has really nice downsampling as well.
