Yeah I like them, mostly when they're droney.Dead Rats wrote:Yeah, I thought they were quite good live, but drawn out and boring as well. Not in the same way as Boris or Sunn, though. Omgfuck, I've never had a drone night before, I'm the only wanker out of all my friends who like it, and you live in E4, that's right near me, omg, I'M ON MY WAY NOW AND BRINGING FLOOD BY BORIS WITH ME.ch3 wrote:Oh shit, really? Yeah, Corsica, on a Sunday, innit. Sunn are so good live, and extremely fucking loud. I'm going on my larry as well, so see you down the front, braaaahhhhh.

I like Boris. I saw Sunn 0))) at the Thekla in Bristol (with Earth supporting/joint on the bill) about 3 years ago (it was Valentines... great night for a Doom gig!), but they really underwhelmed me. Very loud and a great stage presence (with the fog, cowls and clogs!), but no direction and not enough ideas to flesh out entire songs. Oh, and I spent the whole time wishing they'd do a drum beat. I reckon I probably just wasn't stoned/drunk enough (had to drive)... they'd be a great/terrifying soundtrack to an acid trip or something.
Earth at least had a drummer, but they reminded me of over introverted prog, and I really have trouble with that sort of thing.
Today I've been buying Dub:
King Tubby Meets The Rockers Uptown
Lee "Scratch" Perry and The Upsetters - Super Ape
Adrian Sherwood - On-U Sound Crash: Slash and Mix
Peter Tosh - Legalise It

I saw Boris 2 Decembers ago with Sunn, and they played the 'Alter' album. That was fucking amazing, mind-blowing, unforgettable. Know what was even better, though? Boris playing Flood beforehand, which was so mezmerising that it almost made me weep. Not only is that my favourite song, but it's probably the best live performance I've ever heard, ever. At the risk of being called an absolute pussy, if a tidal wave would of cascaded over the venue and desecrated every motherfucker inside it, I would be happy. I was ready to fucking die, man.

Amazing. I had to turn it off at the climax, though. You had to be there to truly feel it, for real.

I went and bought a load of 07 dubstep and now I am regretting it.

Probably going to have a heart attack with Attila staring at me, especially if he dons his Ghost of a Tree Monster outfit on.

Check out Pentemple, which is a live collaboration of Sunn0))) with Attila Csihar and Sin Nanna from Striborg (playing drums and quite well) in Australia. They released their performance as '0))) Presents'. Sounds great and has..well, drums.Magma wrote:I like Boris.
