last night was very dope....dope on plastic, even
it started out, however, on a sour note for me since upon finding parking in NYC, the first thing I proceed to do is lock my keys in the car.
So the hour, I had originally planned on spending at breakbeat science, was spent waiting for the pop-a-lock guys to come bail me out (for a $100 fee, of course).
Though, since it was my own stupidity, you can't really do anything but laugh it off
So signal and I finally make it to Rothko w/ Joe Nice 'pon decks, with "Ready to Learn" being heard clearly from the top of the stairs. The basement area was a bit on the small side, but that actually worked in the sound's favor, b/c there was no escaping that bass. And of course, it was sick dub after sick dub w/ Mr. Nice. Lots of big Caspa tunes, Mystikz ("Cowboy Dub" Yeehaw!), Distance, etc. Great set! Clever was also on point...lots of classics, Offshore business, and that twisted anger remix of "something out there" that had everyone going nuts.
Once the band upstairs finally broke down their shit, it was time to get to business
Prior, Paul Rose, and El Sid went back to back for the next 3 1/2 hours of the night (w/ a brief re-appearance by Joe, as well), laying down everything that I was pretty much dying to hear on a big system...and way too much to list, but of course more S&D and Scuba tunes than you can shake a stick at. Also, a biiiig Boxcutter tune that I wish I knew the name of. Also, props to Sid for dropping "Just 4 U London", which is probably one of my most favorite old skool tunes. There were a few technical difficulties earlier on, but once they got straightened out, the crowd was pretty much going mad for the rest of the night. Lots of people getting into it, and not really any of the puzzled looks that I was expecting going in. The crowd was VERY educated, which was cool as shit.
Anyway, I'll wrap this up. I just wanna big up all the people I got to meet last night (Dave Q, seckle, moldy, secretagentgel, Prior, Sid)....it was great to finally put some faces to the names...and getting a chance to talk w/ all, and share the passion we all have for this sound. Massive respect to seckle and the Soulfire camp for putting on this great event. I reckon I'll be seeing most of you again, about this time next month (Dubwar IV?). big tings!!

Where to start.... What a great night!. Big up to all of you who came early for Joe Nice and Clever in the basement. That was huge! Nice to meet the East Coast forum crew that drove 3 to 6 hours in some cases to see this show. You guys blew me away. Big up to everyone that stood through the brief venue issues upstairs. Big up to the rowdy 3am crew! And a final big big up to Joe Nice, Clever, Prior, El Sid and Paul Rose! Shouts to Dave Q, Moldy, Craig@Kim's and Seguethin for being the nyc dubstep soldiers! You're all top dons. Respect and Happy holidays. See you for Soulfire 2 in the early spring 2006.

Here are the video clips. Due to my bandwidth being rinsed in the last few weeks, I can't put up a larger clip, but maybe next month I'll put up the rest. Respect to Joe, Clever, Prior, El Sid and Paul Rose. Big up to everyone that reached. Your support is not taken for granted.
In order of appearance: Joe Nice, Clever, Hotflush, Search & Destroy b2b Hotflush, Search & Destroy b2b Hotflush b2b Joe Nice. Both clip versions have the same content.
