when i first got it i liked it. i still think their 7" and 12"s that aren't on the album are their strongest.

i've spent a lot of time with the record but i just can't get into as much as i thought it would. fundamentally because i find a lot of lack lustre and underwhelming.

i sort of like this album. i dont really want to listen to it much but the production is hard to fault. i dont like the folk song at the start very much, but the rest of it is good (hater). i just dont really come back to it for some reason. i still rate it though.

:agreed:

It's a solid album with some duffers and some gems. I must admit I've hardly listened to it after about a fortnight of buying it :|

Got the 12" with the Missy remix, but thought the album was a bit singer-songwritery valium fodder. Each to their own I guess.
Hmm....

I wanted to like this more than I did. I wish there was an all version version of the album.

Honestly, Various sort of seems to be to dubstep like what Everything But The Girl was to drum and bass. Same sorta sound, add some lady vocals, make it a tad bit more pop, get hyped and bam.

Im not a hater, just an observer. If you are feeling it, that is great. I like the beats, just wish I could have some instrumentals.

Various - The World Is Gone

Post by freshcuts.ch » Tue Nov 21, 2006 7:11 pm

One of the most forwardthinking Albums at the moment.
Lovely darkness for the deep winter.
The vocal leavens the hollow, metallic din, whereas a traditional dubstep track would have thrust the ugly, synthetic bassline in your ear.
Massive!!!

hater is sick but so much of it is , as blackdown put it , sort of morcheeba dubstep... and the male vox cuts... a mate made the association with trent reznor - can never listen to that record start to finish again
