haha pedantic sod!Duskky wrote:first things first, logic DOES NOT USE vsts - it uses Audio Units (AUs). so god knows what 'vsts' you were using if you managed to get them to work in logic..boyd wrote:I've got one and it runs logic with numerous vst's perfectly, never had any issues.
I'd say do it!

Re: Mac Book Pro Performance
No. Have looked into this but I don't think its worth it. Want Apple support, and i'm sure your restricted when it comes to updates for Logic, which isn't a good idea.Daft tnuc wrote:Turn your PC into a hackintosh, save 1500 EUR + the hassle of making music on a 15" monitor.Likkle Bantam wrote:Hi,
I'm thinking of finally getting a mac book pro.
Spec -
MacBook Pro, 15", Aluminium
2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
320GB Serial ATA @ 7200
Are there any users out there? How does it perform as a solid music making machine? Can you run a decent studio setup off a MPC? It is alot of money but I want the portability and the switch over to Logic.
I'm currently running Cubase SX3 on a dual core PC with 3.5 gigs of RAM, and use loads of VST's and audio samples. I'm a little dubious that a MBP will restrict my use of VST's and samples. Is this likely? I know some VST's aren't compatible with Mac's, and i'm not worried about that side of things, just the performance.
Obviously i'll be switching my reasonably beefy PC for a little 15" piece of metal which is a daunting prospect.
Any help or advice would be great.
Peace
Plus I have no idea when it comes to building PC's, getting all the compatible hardware, bla bla bla. I did look at Psystar but they're in trouble right now (as what they're doing is illegal). Plus it would mean having to import it from the US. Missions and time!!!!
And yes, I have used Logic on the Mac before. Just want reassurance its gonna perform how I want it too. Especially for them moneyz.

Could come in handy. Hopefully not too buggy like you said. Nice oneDepone wrote:Yeah its made by Fx expansion. Its a wrapper, thats quite tempremental. I get quite a lot of graphics errors with it.Hurtdeer wrote:You can actually open vsti's in Logic, someone made a plug-in for it somewhere. I forget what it is and I don't think I've ever tried it, but, yeah, that stuff exists
Mac vstis aren't that common though anyway really (or at least I haven't really needed them)

Corsair RAM sticks are of a very high quality too, all components made in house so total QC, no flakey shit from Korea. Full lifetime guarantee too, no questions asked, just straight up replacement.
If not browse ebuyer, novatech, or even amazon.
Now that Macs are Intel based the RAM is the same as for stock PCs, no?
