I have a morning ritual that I need to share. I call it 'the terminator'. First I crouch down in the shower in the classic 'naked terminator traveling through time' pose. With my eyes closed I crouch there for a minute, visualizing either Arnold or the guy from the second movie (not the chick in the third one because that one sucked) and I start to hum the terminator theme. Then I slowly rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me to proceed through my day as an emotionless, cyborg badass. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It ruins the fantasy.

I see where you are coming from... I'll give that a try tomorrow. :D haha

Seriously, I find the best thing to do when I am uninspired its to do things that are completely unrelated to music or computers & screen.

Some of the things I do myself include:

Go outside. Sometimes I do some gardening or go cycling/skating, sometimes I go for a walk to the shop or by the river to feed the ducks etc etc.

See/talk with friends. I ring a buddy or go out to see them. Taking time to understand people can be inspiring in ways we cannot concieve of until after we have had human interaction with others.

Get involved with other hobbies/meaningful activities. Mine currently are travelling, gardening & community work. There is always so many things to do in each hobby that I am never bored/uninspired.

I read. Switching off the computer, the TV, the games console, my mobile phone etc etc actually helps me get on a different vibe to that of screen based activities. Think about it, monitors and tv screens only give out a certain range of frequencies which is far lower than the amount the human eye is capable of seeing. If you were to stare at a light bulb for hours & hours eveyweek, you would probably also feel uninspired pretty quickly. Thus, switch off all the screens in your house and do something old skool like reading a book or newspaper!!!

Damn! :o

Ps: Combating depression:

I've been fighting depression for years like many people.

I find that eating healthy food and sleeping regularly go along way to keeping me sane.

I also keep away from mind altering drugs these days. (Ketamine, MDMA & MDA at the same time and similar binge cocktails simply aren't good for our psychological health, just as long term weed addiction isn't)

Na man, kick the shit, get involved with projects in different fields of interest and keep in contact with positive people only. That's how to stay balanced/content.

/philosophy rant over

Fuckin sucks. I better get some red bull down me and try harder!
ONE WEEK?

TWO WEEKS???

I go months without being inspired

it's just part of the program

not a big deal at all

when I "cant" make tunes, I focus on my dj'ing

when I can't do either...

I work on the label stuff

always busy, just not always inspired to be creative
Haha, that's a part of my problem, I have sold my decks, and don't run a label

So i keep busy by reading this forum and drink myself into oblivion at the weekends.
I don't DJ or run a label, and can't drink at the moment because I have gastritis...

But this guy is right, even though I'm not necessarily inspired I am still busy as fuck sorting shit out! Good night sleep is in order for a straight mind I reckon, it always is.

I'm glad I'm not the only one following these rules man, seriously I'm on this level too, except with a higher dose of green tea and incense sticks.

Oh what I would do to be a samurai :(

Don't buy into the woman thing. Seriously, fuck and forget if at all possible. Didn't I just say I had a wife and 2 kids? Can't just blaze out and start constructing beats whenever I feel like it now can I? Women are bad mmmk? My best tunes where written earlier in the day. The only time I get to spend time in the studio these days is after the kids are in bed and I am dead tired. It is impossible to feel inspired when you tired!
