I got Geeneus, new Rusko and the unbiquitous township funk but I need more of this snare centric house music - can I get a few recommends?

Things that are out and I can actually buy in a SOHO record shop would be nice as I have a gig next Saturday and Id like to drop a 40 minute section of happy stuff before the darker dubs take over ...

Go-on school me :)

Thx :P
Best place in Soho is still Uptown as far as I know. They'll be able to sort you proper. I think Blackmarket's got a decent selection too.

Go to Uptown (it's in Wyldpytch - 51 LEXINGTON St, SOHO, LONDON, W1F 9HL) and then go to Blackmarket.

I do check BM for the darker dubstep stuff but theres always a posse of serious looking Wub lovers in there so its hard to find the time and space to work through the lighter side of things... at least without the word 'ponce' being muttered ... then again maybe the funky stuff would be upstairs anyways ... hmm.

Uptown has gone! Which is a shame cos it was where I first got into the garagey side of things a few years back - they were always helpful in recommending stuff without loarding it over you :(:(

The thing is I need a few names & labels to check out or I end up listening to loads of vinyl without finding the right vibe - I like a lot of what is posted up here but so much is on MP3 and Im just too old school to enjoy the shit sound quality and lack of a physical product. I need records that are out now for me gig ... after that I am happy to find out more in the traditional crate/forum digging way.

Thanks for the responds :D
i've never seen this posse of wub lovers, and ive never heard the BM staff say anything derogatory about anyone based on their musical taste. i think you need to man up and ask for what you want and stop being a little girl about it mate!

the house section is upstairs, yes.

im a customer so when i go into any record shop i will make certain that i listen to exactly what i want and buy only what i like. i have no problem asking for 15 records, listening to them all and buying none. then again im only ever in the house section and rarely venture downstairs in bm.

I swear i can talk like this to people in real life and they talk like this back to me and its all fine.

Yet when i talk like this to someone on the internet they start crying like a little baby.

Im not angry with you and you didnt offend me in any way. infact, i didn't even spot any "diss".

like i said before... man up.

Whatever - I am man enough thanks, I am also polite & I just dont want to hog up the turntables when the shop is full listening to lots of vinyl purely on spec as it annoys the punters who know what they want exactly.

BUT I wanted to make clear was that I wasnt having a go at the staff - which is what you implied.

I was simply asking for a few recommendations ...

:?

Sorry for any misunderstanding - have a nice day

:)
ok but u should listen to as much vinyl as u like mate the turntables are there for a reason. people should wait til your done. another thing u could do is listen to clips online an pick some you like the sound of then go into the shop and see if they meet your expectations or not.

but last time i did this i ended up ignoring a whole bunch of stuff which i did later buy, because it sounded different on vinyl than thru laptop speakers.

have a nice day urself
