Dubstep is from the Uk.

Tbh, I doubt too many of the folk that were involved with what was going on around Big Apple Records or on Rinse FM were very aware of Crunk at the time when Dubstep was taking shape in Croydon in London.
I have been a life long electronic music fan and Crunk has only shown up on my music "radar" in the last two or years or so. That is just a statement
If Crunk has had such any influence on the biggest electronic music movement on the planet right now, surely we would all be listening to a lot more of it and Croydon probably would not be one of the main words(places) associated with Dubstep.

My two cents.

jokes aside I think what dude is trying to say is when music is deeply categorized it loses its flare. When music should just be called music.

The way we categorize music now is dumbed down from way back when music was created.

This is the ONE fucking thing I can't stand about dubstep. Who the fuck gives a shit where the FIRST "dubstep" track came from, who invented, where it was invented, blah blah blah

people around the whole damn world make it, it's a form of music so instead of getting caught up in the genre arguments like all the other ignorant fucks shut the hell up and listen to it and enjoy it

Why does 50% or more of the fucking UK population that listens to dubstep always fucking go on about how it was "invented" in the uk? Are they all THAT fucking proud to have finally contributed a form of music that isn't complete shit? Seriously, nobody fucking cares. It's music and I love it, that's all the matters and it's all that should matter for everybody else. If you're listening to it and defending it for the sole reason that it was originated where you live, then you are doing it for the wrong reason.

dead serious, although musical taste is just an opinion

its not just dubstep, the originators of any style of music are proud of where it comes from

like jamaica, new york etc. for reggae and hip hop and croydon/uk in the case of dubstep

why is it so annoying that people feel they deserve credit for their achievements?

then give the person who started making music original enough to branch out into its own genre credit..just because you happened to live in or around that general area has nothing to do with it, lmao

frankly its fucking annoying because its all I see half the time, are battles and arguments about where it originated and who does it best, they all just need to shut their fucking mouths up and listen to it...like I said once again, if you're listening to the music or defending it just because it originated in an area near you, you're doing it for the wrong reason

for example, every dubstep video i see has some UK residents on there blabbing their mouths about the UK, every hip hop video I see doesn't have shitloads of comments about where hip hop originated as a musical genre itself.....

if you started it to wave your nationalist penis around in the wind and flex pride due to the accidental circumstance of where you were born, on top of trying to define what any music IS, then this post is no better than your copy paste was originally.

i didnt get past this post. and i cant get the image out of my head.

the PEOPLE who made the MUSIC deserve credit for their achievements.

& there is obviously a story about how things come about, its more than one person, usually in close proximity, and in dubstep the story is pretty much croydon.. Hiphop the bronx, reggae kingston etc etc...

the problem is when people (not the music MAKERS) get caught in the WORD "dubstep", and then start acting EXclusive, just because the universe happened to birth them somewhere close by to where the music was made...

as if ANYTHING happens in a bubble, and anyone deserve credit for accidentally being born somewhere....

national PRIDE is fake. give credit where credit is DUE, all respect due to the pioneers of the sound...

but anyone who wants to take credit for dubstep because they were born in the UK can also take credit for 400 years of bloody colonial genocide & imperialism... OR we could just have a progressive conversation about how music brings us all together, across racial, national, & cultural lines... thats Hiphop.

its shit like this that makes me realise how critique some people on this little 'community' are.

who gives a fuck?

he's saying what he thinks, thats what message boards are all about be it right or wrong.

let me ask you a question, does it make you BIG or CLEVER to personally slate this guy? I don't think so.

For those with constructive arguments, respect.
