After setting off 2009 with the madness of Flying Lotus and The Bug, Dank Morass are incredibly excited to announce the debut Brisbane appearance of one of the biggest names in American dubstep - Starkey. Championed by Vex'd and releasing his debut LP on Planet Mu last year, Starkey is definitely one of the leading lights of a new wave of dubstep and bass producers. Supports come from an awesome line-up of local bass heavyweights including 3rd Eye from Byron Bay who had one of his tunes featured in the dubstepforum.com 3rd anniverasary mix. Come down and feel the pressure!!!
Full line-up:
STARKEY (USA/Planet Mu)
3rd Eye (Byron Bay)
Funkedub
Suckafish P Jones (Forcefed Fistfuls)
Science Project
Swob (Dank Morass)
Walrii (Dank Morass)
Date:
Saturday 7th March from 9pm
Venue:
Upstairs @ the
Step Inn
Cnr Brunswick St & St Pauls Tce, Fortitude Valley

$15 on the door
Starkey Bio:
PJ Geissinger has been performing as Starkey for only four years and has already garnered International attention for his energetic live/dj performances and original sound. Starkey is co-owner of Slit Jockey Records and a member of the Seclusiasis and TROUBLE AND BASS crews. In 2005, Starkey won both the North American and Mid-Atlantic Laptop Battles, in Seattle and Washington D.C. respectively. He was also featured in the Philadelphia City Paper’s 2005 Spring Music Issue and awarded the Choice Award for “Best UK Grime DJ in Philly” along with Dev79. Following this success stateside Starkey was selected by Vex’d as one of seven new DJs for Radio 1’s MARY ANNE HOBBS’ dubstep elite ‘generation bass’ and was the only non-UK DJ to be chosen. Following up his 2006 debut on Werk Discs,“Local Headlines”, Starkey’s latest album “Ephemeral Exhibits” came out in November 2008 on the world famous “PLANET MU” label to much adulation. In the past 2 years, Starkey has had a string of vinyl, cd and digital releases on labels such as Peace-Off/Ruff (France), Nonclassical (UK), Dead Homies (US), Starksound/Rag&Bone (UK), Offshore (US) and LoDubs (US), Zombydub (UK), and Dress 2 Sweat (UK), for whom he has recorded under the new pseudonym “moves!”.
