!113g@1 v@1u3 Dubsteppers- DJs Delstar, Citizen, Mr. Frost & Shards
The breaking sound of Dubstep has come leaps & bounds in the past 18 months! Taking the sub-frequencies of Drum&Bass, it reels back the tempo & rewrites the rhythms to become paradoxically both percussively spartan & complex; adds elements of Dancehall, Garage, Jungle, Techno, Hip-Hop, Industrial, Old-School Electro, World music or just about any other influence the individual producer can fit in, and sends the result deep, deep into the echo chamber. Mr Frost’s Hi-Grade night at the Moonbar was the first to introduce the genre to Brisbane, along with its sonic brethren of Grime & Breakstep, hosting Kode9 of the pioneering UK Hyperdub label- releasing Spaceape, Warrior Queen & Pressure aka The Bug- as well as Paul Fraser & Farj of Sydney’s Garage Pressure back in 2003. Frosty, together with Frazer Farrell & MC Tommy RO of 4zZzFM’s Original Drum continued to push it throughout 2004 with >Hard grafT>> at the Underground Bar of the Elephant & Wheelbarrow, seeing performances from such leading lights as DJ Lombardo of Fragile Beats. After a hiatus of several months, Shards took up the torch with his !113g@1 v@1u3 parties & ran with it through 2005, taking on Frosty on as a resident DJ to give the sound a home along with other dispossessed breakbeats like Glitch Garage, GhettoTech & Nu-School Breakcore. Together, >Hard grafT>> & !113g@1 v@1u3 have imported more luminaries of the style, Quiet Storm aka Caspa (Storming Productions, Dub Police/UK) & Skream (Tempa/UK) to Queensland in 2006, as well as fostering new local talent such as DJs Delstar & Citizen. Representing together in back-to-back-to-back-to-back stylee, they’ll bring to the Island a couple of hours of the latest that Breaks & Bass Science has to offer!

(Yep, that's the beach it's gonna be on!
