I didnt think it was THAT bad to be honest - but you have to go in with the notion that it's never going to be as good as the GN.

A few issues with the Director not getting the essence of a few characters, but that's just subjective opinion. The main issue to remember is that Snyder didn't have Moore's blessings for this one - this was NOT 300. I think if Moore had been more pro-active instead of defiantly against the film, the issues that everyone complains about would have been solved or at least negotiated amicably rather than cut out.

They left a massive chunk of Rorsach's story out if i remember it rightly, and the changes at the end of the film kind of pissed me off - but i can understand why "they," (being hollyweird) did it.

Graphically, it's an orgy - the effects are amazing.

If anything - just go in and watch it stoned and enjoy the fucking ride as you're magically taken back to being 16 again and this seems like the coolest shit your eyes have seen.

Surely its better i watched the film, enjoyed it, then read the novels and enjoyed them even more, instead of the other way round in which case i'd probably not have liked the film!

I watched it yesterday and really enjoyed it. I was left with a few mixed feelings just after I left regarding the end of the film but as my mate pointed out, the new ending actually makes a lot more sense.

I only have a couple of gripes:

1: It really should have been a two parter. Too much stuff for one film methinks. Simply flesh the story out a bit would have saved the film from a lot of the abuse its been getting.

2: Whoever played Silk Spectre was terrible. Her lack of acting ability ruined a couple of scenes for me.

my view's this, it was an ok film, it was faithful enough to the original but had lost at lot of its soul and emotion. I think maybe if they had got a better director in and he'd had the balls to put more of his own spin on it it would have been much better, I know you wouldn't want him to fuck it up, but look at Kubrick and Clockwork Orange, you can't just copy something from one medium to another you need to make it work as a film. Alan Moore said he told Terry Gillingham that it'd never work as a film as it was made to do stuff only comic books could, maybe he's right. I reckon it could have worked if there was a great director on board as it was it was just kind of ok.

I read the comic and watched the movie. I have to say that the movie is more or less as good as it was ever going to get. There were a few scenes I thought could have done better, particularly the bit on Mars with figuring out the Comedians real role... it didn't quite have the same punch to it that it did in the comic.

I did however think the ending was better in the movie. When I read the comic I thought that Moore must have thought that bit up at the last minute and put it in. The movie's ending is much more of an intelligent use of what is already in the story... so obvious that I can't understand why Moore didn't think of it.

I thought the actors did a great job too.

I agree with the review that put it

it exposed the books weaknesses rather than highlighted its strenghts

Parts seemed silly and embarassing. Should of been left as a book or revisioned for film.
