Your 5 fav non-dubstep labels...and why?

mine:

1. Mo' Wax (the amount of fat records released on this label is absolutely ridiculous. I'm not into collecting full back catalogues of labels, but sometimes they leave me no other option

)

2. Metalheadz (same as above, but i'm not feeling everything they've released recently. The long shelf life is a plus)

3. Phil L.A. of Soul (pretty unknown 60s/70s label that released a shitload of great funk and northern soul 7" singles. And i LOVE 7" singles. Most of the originals are still reasonably piced, so easy to pick up with my small student budget.)

4. Def Jux (RJD2's releases alone make this a must for me. Also a large amount of wicked rap albums like I phantom and Cold Vein)

5. Stones throw (MADVILLAIN!)

Deserved to make it in the list, but didn't: XL, DC, Ninja Tune, Outcaste, a handful of old jazz labels, a handful of old soul labels. Maybe when i'm doing a top-10 once...

I can't really think of five labels out of my head, but the get physical stuff is hilariously good. The perfect antidote for all that so-called dark music, get me.

Reinforced ... "journey into the light" got me into hardcore

Def Jux .... a none hiphop hiphop lable, gotta respect rjd2 for puttin rock tunes out on it, quality out the box thinking

Old mo wax (palmskin productions..rpm ect, i think the lable got shit once it was sold)

Ninja tune (for having balls)

Metalheads ....coz hidden agenda pwnd

day by day entertainment.....not a mf doom geek like many but this is his home if ya didnt know

this will change when i wake up

relapse - features some of the best metal bands currently making music
matador- puts out decent indie music
position chrome - needs no explaination imo
motown - i grew up w/ motown music from the 50's and 60's
subbase - because i will always have a place for jungle in my heart

All current European dance stuff for me really.

Kompakt - because Koln minimal is the shit.
Mobilee - Because Pan-Pot and Anja Schneider make really interesting hooky minimal.
Cadenza - For Ricardo Villalobos' Achso alone, nevermind the excellent Luciano releases.
Vakant - Alex Smoke's Paradolia is one of the most interesting and cool techno albums of the year.
Perlon - The Superlongevity compilations are killers. Also because I like the sleeve design.

Hmmm.... thought they were dead and buried. They had a few large releases in their time though.
