EE shows are ridiculously on point; Forward thinking selections, great guest mixes, top production, formatting and archiving. Theres been at least two or three episodes in the iPod on rotation since i started listening.

Id say he definitely deserves a break, but i hope he wont spend a second of his downtime thinking about any of the asshats that have given him totally undeserved grief. you cant expect every chode that has been dining on hot dogs since they dropped the teet to appreciate the fresh cuts.

Looking forward to your return Mr.Booth, you are a class act and I hope you keep your trademark style.

if this bit about the hate mail is really true then i'm extremely sad. rob booth has produced one of the most consistently excellent and exciting to listen to PROGRAMS i've heard. i use the word program because it's nice to have an option to listen to that isn't strictly djs mixing and yelling the track name half the time. love the focus on new talent, the way many genres of music are represented, and the diversity in the mixes. the show is notably NOT called dubstep explorations as someone else mentioned.

big respect to you rob - and i anticipate your return.

This.

In case anyone hadn't noticed, Rob likes techno. Big surprise? Not really.

And Grovskopa does some dope techno. End of.

Big ups Rob, for always searching out the interesting music. Your time!

Seriously.

It's Electronic Explorations, not Narrow-Spectrum-of-Bass-Music Explorations.

Enjoy your time off, Rob!

this is bullshit! EE is a truly wicked podcast, IMO the best music podcast on the net for sure.

I've never really been that into techno but the techno special was class!
ignore the hatemail and carry on making excellent shows is what i say!

Here follows an open letter concerning the announcement that Rob Booth is taking a break from producing Electronic Explorations:

::

Electronic Explorations guided me through my formative months of appreciation for dubstep, to me it was an easily digestible, broad selection that soundtracked 2 out of every 5 journeys to and from work a week. As well as providing an inlet into dubstep the show ALSO opened my eyes to the fact that there is an incredible wealth of techno out there that isn't just dry snares, airy pads and heavily boosted 80Hz kick drums.

Its quickly, in my opinion, become the most reliable and dependable podcast out there - coming big with mixes from bigger named producers and those who deserve a little more attention and the exposure the show gave artists cannot be fronted on.

Having met Rob and having dealt with him on a professional basis myself i can say that his enthusiasm for the project is incredibly infectious. His influence is evident in what i do and he's one of the major inspirational factors for me doing something that aims to give something back and support and nuture the scene.

If Rob is receiving hate mail or negativity, the persons or people doing so really, really do need to check their heads. Its been said already in this thread that the title of the show is 'Electronic' Explorations and anyone whose ever actually listened to the damn thing can clearly hear the electronic voice at the start of the show referencing... "experimental extremes: dubstep, minimal, idm, techno."

If you dont like it, dont listen....

...and for shit's sake don't whine when he does something outside of the box like an entire show of ambient music or a techno special.

In the words of Ramadanman (when asked on his Ruffage Sessions show on Sub FM, if he was into wobble bangers): "variety is key".

Rob's show has been a key component in pushing all different strains of new electronic music and much like the shows of Benji B or Mary Anne Hobbs its giving a whole lot more back to the scene than all this seemingly incessant complaining.

I hope that the break is shortlived and that Rob can take heed from the slew of complementary posts littering this thread and keep up his sterling effort and - frankly incredible - work rate.

Yours,

MLR

JBlake wrote:Rob's doing something uniquely selfless in a music industry full of people who are mainly interested in self-promotion and mutual backslapping. His shows and his ethic have been a breath of fresh air to this scene (and others), but a lot of people prefer to sit in a musical hotbox. If they haven't realised by now that Electronic Explorations is about pushing things forward, then their opinions should be taken with a large pinch of salt.

I hope you come back ASAP mate, cause saturdays won't be the same until you do.
i and many others owe the man a lot.

a showcase like his with absoloutly no agenda what so ever outside of promoting good and interesting music is a rare and incredibly important thing to have in any 'alternative music scene'. as more and more people come on here to whine about the commercialisation of 'your scene', here was a beacon of artistic integrity and enthusiasm for new and contrasting areas of electronic music

will be a crying shame if some narrow minded idiots have ruined this for all the exciting new producers of, and listeners to, dubstep - in all it's different shades

I've downloaded a ton of his podcasts/shows, man has a huge knowledge and love for a ll kinds of interesting music. The guests he got to provide mixes is also unparalleled.

His own mix of all sorts of techno was fantastic too.

I hope he enjoys his break, but comes back refreshed, and encouraged. The world needs more people like him.

Shame on the cockends who had to be morons.

Big up rob and EE!

Tomre wrote:Yes it's now official, Rob is taking a well deserved break right now after his massive Electronic Explorations shows.
This because he got (unbelievable in my opinion) a lot of hate mail:
1. he decided to make a (very very good) techno episode with Grovskopa and some of the dubstep massive (?) couldn't have that.
2. his good and well deserved relationship with Mary Anne Hobbs. The jealous people really should shut up!!!
3. he screamed for more popmusic at the Bloc Weekend last week this because of his overworked situation. :| People should show respect for this!

So my shout outs go to Rob, take care mate and come back soon but not before you are very well again! We miss you! Not really (but also that) for the Electronic Explorations but most of all for the person you are :!:

Just got back, been away 8 days. A friend linked me to this thread via email.

Im interested to see these emails of hate... yeah I get the odd one from time to time, that'll never change, the shows on the internet in the public domain so Im gonna get some beef offa peeps .. comes with the territory I guess, but that will never stop me from making the show each week .. fuck the haters, gonna need more than that to stop me !!

I've not seen any hatred towards the Grovskopa show, far from it, over 6,000 downloads and loads of emails of thanks.
Your gonna have to link me to these emails Tomre ?

As for the MAH issue, I've no idea what you mean by this ... :?

Bloc w/end ..... I wasn't even there, I was up in the Lake District as Im in the process of moving up noooorf !!!

As for the show, it's back this w/end as per usual, but I'm gonna have to have 3/4 weeks off when I move in a couple weeks time.

And cheers for all the support on here :D :D
