definitely the indie scene is to thank for this - quite odd actually, as i always find that bass orientated music is what sounds best pressed on wax

cd's & even dvds are dead.

digital is all online.

if you want a physical product, vinyl is, has, and always will be the way to go...

from album art to sound feel, vinyl rules the 3rd dimension.

so yeah, the resurgence is here to stay... albeit niche market, but its not going anywhere.....

waves on spiral vortex plates kick 0111010101010 ass anyday..

long live vinyl!!!!

yo i agree that digital is all onlline an vinyl is the bedt physical product that you can buy but sadly i have to disagree that the resurgence is here to stay...

dance music vinyl sales are lower than ever :( and the 7" indie fad won't last long i don't think...

i'm not saying vinyl is going to die completely but we shouldn't kid ourselves that it's on the way back in propa...

for fuck's sake, i heard Fabio say on radio that he went to a history museum and saw a pair of 1210s with a sign saying "this is what DJs used to use in the 80s"

peace

Have to agree bro, for real!!
Loving vinyl is one thing , but the way i see it is that there is heaps of peeps making tunes, heaps of peeps spinning tunes soooooooooo

Make mad tracks and they WILL get played...
Worrying about what format THAT so called track is played off is gunna get ya all twisted, for real!!
:P :P :P

oh no no no, its not "worries" per say...

just vinyl junkie business :)

the way i see it, everything is at your fingertips NOW already. done, finished caput. anything averything, gives thanks for this wonderful medium internet.

but still... collecters & enthusiasts will always want that physical connection with the music, cause despite newfangled data compression technology, when amplified & transduced, the music IS a physical thing... so like, that spnning vinyl with needle in groove just does SOMETHING (magical) that nothing else can replicate... and its not going anywhere...

true that...1210s in the museum, lol, my 1210s are all busted up now, i gots me some vestax with that super pitch lol.. nah mean?

basically no worries yuh know, and big respect to the record fiends..

well if some of you guys are thinking that the vinyl fad will die when the indie fad dies, there remains the likelihood of them turning to electronic dance music again when the pendulum swings

perhaps vinyl could be here to stay

so long as record bins and turntables are in people's homes, there's no need to worry

i love downloading music but if i am oging to spend bills on it its got to be pressed vinyl. maybe i am wrong but i get the distinct impression it will last longer than cds.

no question.

while it is possible to blend records and even do a bit of scratching on products such as final scratch and serato, there is one one thing that will keep the vinyl market for hiphop going for a long time:

hiphop

more specifically, turntablism

people are way too into juggling records and doing things like that to be bothered to set it up all on serato. i think as long as battle records are being pressed up, turntablist competitions like itf and dmc are still going strong like they are, then vinyl will be around for a while.

the art of digging will probally be here for a long time. imagine, 40 years from now the next generation digging for electronic dance records for the breaks :D :D :D

takin those breaks and movin on to the next level

i dont think it will be here forever by any means, but it will be a shame when it does disappear because we will have lost a beautiful musical instrument.

turntablists before anyone else. hiphop before anything else.

of course, but even out at reggae nights i dont like to see dj draw for the 7" coz i know the room is about to get a lot less bassy.

still i will admit that is an extreme statement.

if you ever see:

peanut butter wolf
cut chemist
dj shadow

you better pray they spin all 45's. it's the most amazing shit, worth 5 times the amount that you'll pay to see them.

i dunno man, in my experience dancehall 7" 45's are really bassy cause the disc moves faster than it would at 33 = more sonic info. i have a few that are boomy as hell.
