Snoop Dogg Millionaire makes the Music Week playlist...
Music Week have put Snoop's dubstep outing into their playlist for this week. Those of you might know that its one of the most influential places to be spotted early doors for future hits...
I really hope the naysayers refrain from replies like "this is the final nail in dubstep's coffin, woe betide" because it's a really positive thing to get exposure on this level. Take it from someone who watched garage live and die and grime change, Dubstep has more than enough legs to cater for every market there is out there, and this can only help fuel a really strong exciting scene.
p.s. The chorus is stuck in my head, tune is ruffnuts

what ever my opinion on this track, lets just hope it sparks more interest in dubstep itself,
i'd rather people listen and say 'whats that track snoop is on, i want to hear more of this?!', as oppose to just taking it as a one off experimental production.
one track isnt going to change a scene one way or the other, as i said lets hope it increases exposure, but apart from that its business as usual really

I do have a problem with it getting big through a tune that sounds like it's been produced by a 5 year old. Anyone heard chimpo's sexual seduction remix? couldn't they have released that?
FARKING LOL. Eastern Jam, if nothing else, is superbly produced to deliver that punishing dancefloor vibe that few others, big name or otherwise, can mimic.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.
Oh my god the first time i heard this i thought it was a joke but obviously not. Eastern jam is a heavy tune imo, been rinsed a lot but still good but this version has made me question that a lot.
The vocals are awful and dont even work with the track.
Its all about the money.

Snoop Dogg Millionaire, is superbly produced to hurt your ears on the dancefloor
and I mean that literally, because the first time I heard the "YEAHHH" it hurt a bit

Are you on crack? I'm talking about Snoop Dog Millionaire. Production is borderline criminaalshortstuff wrote:ThisThisThispete bubonic wrote:DID wrote:I do have a problem with it getting big through a tune that sounds like it's been produced by a 5 year old. why does this happen in every single music scene
theres a reason why GOOD dubstep/drum and bass etc isnt in the top 40 - its just not music that most people like.
why the obsession with trying to 'enlighten' people to like music just because you think its really awesome?!
someone makes a crossover tune, people get all excited thinking this will get exposure to the music and soon everyone will be listening to dubstep all the time.
problem is MOST ORDINARY PEOPLE JUST DONT LIKE IT. so coked up over-egoed big producers start chasing success making more and more crossovery tunes to appeal to 'the kids' until its nothing but watered down shit like pendulum and dj fresh and all that crap.
seriously listen to some pendulum. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT?!?!?!

just to clarify - i'm not trying to say that this tune will destroy dubstep
what will is an obsession with trying to force a genre of music that just isnt mainstream to crossover, because the only way to do that is to water it down.
ultimately it will only ever be a novelty to the people this kind of thing is trying to reach and it just ends up diluting the music, as it brings in people who don't really get it, and producers start chasing their money by making cheesy tunes that appeal to fair-weather dubsteppers.

I don't really want to start another debate on the tune as there has been millions. However there are undeniable facts:
1) Eastern Jam is an amazingly produced track - the depth of production and engineering is really all you can expect. Having the track re-edited to fit a more "followable" format does not suddenly change that.
2) This is one of the hardest dubstep tracks ever - anyone who argues that C&S are chasing the money are mental because there is literally no commercial compromise as far as this tune is concerned. It's by chance that Snoop heard this and saw his vision and realised it.
This won't make dubstep suddenly cool for 14 year olds. Night was more likely to do that considering how hard several genres pushed it, so relax everyone and just enjoy the tune for what it is!
