anyone know how to get acapellas? I heard about a process to do it but not sure about it? any ideas?

I don't think there is hardly any ways that you could extract the acapellas from songs perfectly but they take out or extract centre channel which most vocals are on when they do it or something.
I've tried it before following a few different tutorials and my results weren't too bad but it also cut some of the frequencies out and it wasn't top quality.
Last software i used was Audacity but I did get a slightly better result when I used Adobe Audition to do it a while ago.

Check youtube for some tutorials for different software, a lot of them are a waste of time though.

If you have an instrumental there is a way to flip the track (or somthing) and lay it ontop of the track with the vocal (or somthing similar to that) and it cancels the music out and leaves you with an acapella (or somthing)

as you can tell, i havnt a clue.

unless its some ultra rare acapella, google's your best option, theres zillions of acapella packs about!

what song do you need in particular?

if its just the process you need info on, yeah, agree with most, its pretty dang tricky

tell u what tho I don't think the majority of remixes out there were made by doing the extracting phase out thingy

either got the vocal tracks on a strength ting, like got passed them in confidence from the artist or label itself, or they used an accapella thats already floating around the internet..

only problem with the latter is that by that time its already on some pleb type rinsed to death biz..

I prefer getting accapellas on flips of vinyl singles and ripping that or just using it for dj'ing.. they still release those quite abit which is very naaice

its easy .. get the original song and the instruments. Invert the instrumental put it on top and everything that has the same frequencies as the instrumental and original will be cancled. Results : You get a acapella. Doesnt work always because of the freqrange.

Could always pay for some voicing. A lot of dancehall/reggae artists aren't too pricey, but you're still in the $150-$200 range...then you'd have original vocals nobody else has. Don't think I've seen any voicing threads on here in awhile, if ever, but Lion Dub, Tester, and some other new age ragga dudes could link you up with pretty much any JA MC you can think of for a price.

Aside from that or getting a straight up pella, there's phase cancellation like suggested and numerous VSTs. Sadly, neither will probably give you the results you want. If you can't get a pella, sometimes it's just easier to write a song over the original with instrumentals, using some of the original sounds in your remix and EQ other bits out accordingly.
