New Behringer monitors
Yeah, I know, Behringer is the worst. There are new truth's out now with a ribbon tweeter. Anyone listen to them yet? Maybe they're decent.

Those rubicons are priced well and have got pretty good reviews after a quick googling.
A question about subs. Does the sub matter? The price range on subs is pretty serious. I mean, could I pick up a 8" sony sub somewhere or is a proper mackie one or whatever required? As long as it has an adjustable crossover and goes down to 20hz, are there other things I should be looking at?

I think you can find something a lot better for not a whole lot more. I would for sure try to get something with an 8 inch speaker give or take. I'd say the KRK is the way to go if your not willing to part with a grand or more. Look on ebay you might find some pretty good prices.
Just a quick look I see the 5 inchers WITH the sub for 450 or you can get the 8 inchers for 500.

I was looking at the KRK's too. I don't wanna go any lower than 6" for the monitors though. I know someone that has a regular ass 8" home sub that fucking hits hard as hell. Loads of bass. The 5" x 10" sub combo seems like sub overkill in ratio to the monitors. I could be wrong though.
What would be better rp5's and a sub or rp8's? The price is pretty similar between the two. I think I'm leaning towards 6" and a sub. Just gotta sort out the brand a find a good deal.
I'm looking to get my ass out of this apartment and in to a house so I can crank the fucking bass already.

Yeah exactly. Guitar Center pushes a ton of those monitors so they should have em set up for you.fiziks wrote:Word. Both the Samson's and the KRK's in the 8" variety are just about the same price and around what I was looking to spend. Maybe guitar center will have them in stock and I can go take a listen....and then buy on eBay of course

And if you don't have the money for the vxt series, gett the rockit series 6 or 8. I have the 6's and my mixes sound almost the same everywhere i go.thetaco wrote:Can't go wrong with the KRK VXT series. My VXT-6's are well loud and produce bass well enough.
It really depends on personal taste too though..
The best thing to do is take some of your music and lett the store set up
a listening session. Listnen to different monitors in your price range and you should definitly find a pair that's best for your music!
Good luck
