LOL.
Says a lot abt the type of girls u move with.
Come on, proper manufactured pop is bought by and made for the ladies mainly. I've got no disrespect for them for doing that, but men tend to explore music alot more. You go to a night or gig for a genre or band thats just starting out and there will most likely be an unreal amount of men compared to women, you go to a pop gig in a huge arena then the majority are women. Its nothing to do with them being stupid or nothing.
(My source for the above statistics: my head)
I've got a huge amount of respect for any girl who doesnt do that sort of thing and does rep the new genres and shit.

I dunno mate.
My wife is a huge drum & bass and dubstep fan and the lead singer of my band is a woman. I work with two girls who are gig promoters in their spare time and most of my female friends go to live gigs and club nights more than I do.
Equally, you could easily find plenty of knuckleheaded blokes down your local who listen to nothing but whatever crap is being pushed by major record companies.
Making generalisations about women / men doesn't really achieve anything.

why is it still acceptable to excuse mysoginy and sexism with 'we're just having a laugh?'. thanks to elgato and badga tek for picking up on this.
The only space available for women at dubstep nights, by the sound of the opinions in this thread, is as something nice to look at. Most the girls i know go to nights because we LOVE the music...not because our boyfriends dragged us there or so you guys have something to oggle.
I go to the line ups with the DJs i like, I buy the vinyl i like, i talk to my girl mates about the new tune im really into etc. This opinion that women are just passive and have no taste in good music is one i hear all the time and i find it so frustrating.
Dubstep forum is like a little boys club sometimes. If i remember rightly after the last why not? night the thread was full of bitching about how the girls were all jail bait and stupid slags who were too fucked on pills. And after a FWD night there was all this bitching about how there were too many girls who kept pushing past you all night? I don't get it?
The vibes at dubstep nights are generally amazing...the people are safe and friendly it makes such a change to other nights you go out to. You don't have to many wasters falling all over you and grabbing your arse, theres a bit more respect for personal space and i like that. Everyones always yarping on about how progressive dubstep is so why don't you start showing it on this forum and show the ladies some love and make us feel welcome. At the end of the day i go for the music!! And i love all that dark paranoid stuff always have always will.
