Post by cerulean » Thu Mar 26, 2009 3:24 pm

hi new user here, been listening to dubstep for a couple of years, producing for about the same ammount of time.

great forum here, learned alot from it, so now am going to start posting my own work up.

this track is quite ambient, but also slighty tense, would be great to hear back from some of you

enjoy

Your homie said you were not getting any feedback in the DUB's section, so here you go.....

On a positive tip: I like the overall vibe of the tune. Dark, minimal, right up my ally. Your kicks sound nice, and so do your snares. I like the bass and the overall production sounds solid.

On a constructive tip: The song kinda just drones on to me. (no offense) I lost interest after the first 16 bars. After the break, the same material repeats. Switch up different elements of the song, add things and subtract things, to keep the listener interested. I think you are off to a great start.

remember, this is just my humble opinion.

The track might benefit from having a vocal sample or two. It's amazing what a difference it can make in your track.

Another thing that might make the track move along a bit, is to have some drop out / unusual edits. The first 16 bars of your tune is nice... keep it going, just drop out the drums or the bass for a couple bars. It will keep the vibe of your song, just make it more interesting for the listener. Add a sample here and there. It's really easy to turn a 16 bar pattern in a 32 bar pattern, or a 4 bar pattern into a 16 bar pattern, by adding samples here and there.

Keep em' coming. pm me and I will always give you feedback on a new tune... I know it's tough here in the dub's section.
