Because it's using Dubstep as a distraction. Enter Shikari have to be one of the least remarkable bands out of the whole British "hardcore" scene. There are bands I hate more, but at the end of the day, Enter Shikari aren't good at their main field of genre. When they came out, they decided to prop it up with a lot of fake techno, like several american bands do, to varying degrees of success. It vaguely worked for them, but criticism grew swift.Joe Muggs wrote:I don't get the hate. Disliking Enter Shikari for not being Digital Mystikz is like disliking Lemar for not being Otis Redding - they're just different things. Why waste your energy? Some metal kids may discover dubstep through hearing this, others won't. Either way, who cares?
Now they're using Dubstep. Which is the 'it' genre of electronic music, and great for the clubs. I'm sure they've gone out to parties, and at one point, Cockney Thug got dropped, and they thought "This would make a great tune to mosh to." As usual, they only have a limited grasp of what makes Dubstep good at all, so they utilize the wobble and that's it.
So it's not, "Oh, this is horrible, Enter Shikari are doing dubstep", it's "Oh, this is horrible, Enter Shikari are using dubstep to pretend they're a creative band."
