yes you all agree, you would do the worst thing if these things were committed by a certain group of mafioso guys that broke into your property and went ugly there, and it would be socially acceptable too
but in this game you are the only ones that respect that education according to which banks are respectable institutions and people's property. if they were mafia casinos, you wouldn't mind.
well, big news: they are mafia casinos and the house always wins big time

The behaviour of the police in most of these events is inciteful and overly aggressive. You'd have thought they'd have learned by now but I honestly think some of them look forward to these type of events and hope they kick off. Unfortunately they never seem to indite their own, even for such acts as you saw, but they will end up prosecuting the people who attacked the RBS building.frebentos wrote:hmmm, i cant agree with smashing buildings up.
However, the police were brutal from the get go and with some reason.
when they were about to tip over the police van and the coppers came charging in their was nothing else the police could do.
But when they wanted to stop everyone from seeing someone arrested behind a van, charged and knocked a woman over then picked her up by the scruff of the neck and booted her away, it was sickening,
When they were just charging at lines of people trying to clear space, again ,thats fair enough, but when they're swinging battons in order to do that, insane grins on their face, its not on.
It works both ways, their will always be some rockets who only want to be their to start trouble, the same as their will always be police that hope they turn up.

for the google challenged:
"The report, commissioned by the anti-poverty charity War on Want, calls on the government to stop high street banks such as Barclays, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS), and Lloyds TSB from using billions of pounds in customers' savings to back the weapons industry.
"People have seen the mess that the banks have made with customers' money. But few know they are using our cash to fund arms companies," said Ruth Tanner, director of campaigns and policy at War on Want.
"The British government must introduce regulation to stop banks making a killing from the arms trade."

"Brown was reportedly ‘angry’ at RBS’ ‘disastrous’ takeover of ABN Amro just three months before the credit crunch hit. The British government now effectively owns the Royal Bank of Scotland, one of its biggest banks."

On 14th February 2000, the Royal Bank of Scotland took over National Westminster Bank. NatWest is the target of nationwide protests because of its involvement with Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS). Now the bank's new head office at St. Andrew's Square is to become a focus of demonstration.
HLS is Europe's largest contract testing company. It tortures and kills 180,000 animals a year, despite the existence of humane alternatives to vivisection. The company is involved in chemical testing, GM foods trials and xenotransplantation (cross-species organ transplants). It experiments on primates, dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, horses, sheep, pigs, cows, birds and fish.
HLS workers' extreme cruelty to animals has been exposed by 3 undercover investigations. Footage from one of these was broadcast in 1996 by Channel 4 in a programme called "It's a Dog's Life". The documentary showed HLS technicians shaking and repeatedly punching beagle puppies. It also revealed experiments being faked.

The Oil Bank of Scotland - fuelling climate change
The Royal Bank of Scotland is covering up involvement in carbon emissions greater than those of the whole country of Scotland, according to new research published today, Monday 12 March 2007.[1] As the government prepares to publish its draft Climate Change Bill, the report “The Oil & Gas Bank” reveals the extent to which RBS-NatWest is providing the financial fuel driving climate change.

this and the flipside toodatura wrote:These protests are always ruined by a few tossers who use them as an excuse for mindless vandalism and aggression, and then the police overreact and it's a fucking mess.
did anyone ponder if maybe a large amount of the indivdiual humans, that happen to work as police officers because they truly want to prevent outrageous crimes and injustice against other humans, howver effectively or not with the system we have, may be a little miffed too.... they're affected too and a large amount likely agree with the demonstrators. but arent allowed leave or demonstrate and have the choice to do their job or lose it in a very tight economic climate. a tricky decision if you also have a loyalty to supporting a family.
yeah some are dicks, abosultely no question there, but not all of them... but some are human and sat quiet, wearing their uniform and talked with people there.
but some demonstrators are dicks too. and unfortunately the bad apples in the demo's and the bad apples in the controlling force get all our attention and totally detract from a very valid point that's (and oh i know im gonna get shot down here) supported by most average joe or julie, whatever side of the picket line.

Unless the banks are recieving state funding (which is what would happen if the state owned the banks) and are "stealing" taxpayer money, then how on earth are they stealing?
Noone forces anyone to put money in a bank, you do so voluntarily. How can it be stealing if you choose to either a) borrow or b) deposit?
Mmmm I love the smell of economic ignorance in the morning... sure its cool to hate on the man, just make sure you are hating on the right man.

Old bill love a good row, though, don't they?
Watched a few interviews yesterday, seemed like a few people were hamming it up proper. "He started kicking me in the back, we're all pinned in, gaaahhhh!!!"

Yes, because getting back at police violence by smashing up somewhere that we ALL own, is really logical. Protest and, if needed, violence can be very effective - it helps if it comes from people with the vaguest idea what they're protesting against though.DJ Whistla wrote:big up to all the protestors!
great to see people power
terrible to see police violence, so because of that i also say big up to the violent protestors giving it back to the scum
