Piracy beginning to make an impact?

Post by chewie » Thu Apr 02, 2009 11:42 am

Was just reading this article:
http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2009/ ... f-pirates/
Don't actually use any prosoniq stuff but being anti-pirate myself was wondering what peoples thoughts were on this?

Those capitalist pigs..
Also I don't care, as long as I have a DAW and a few VSTs I'm all good, don't need the newest shit anyway.

Now, I would be exhibiting a pretty healthy dose of temerity if I were to chastise the creator of the very first non-Steinberg commercial plug-in. But I would be remiss if I didn't point out that if you can't manage to sell shit, it is hardly ever the customer's fault. Having a nearly impenetrable purchasing process, an incredibly poorly managed website, and a product line that has no consistency in platform availability and updates probably has way more to do with a lack of Windows sales, if you'd like my opinion on the matter. And who wouldn't?

Haha! I knew something smelled fishy.

I read this part "Do you think this is a sign of larger problems with Windows as a music platform?"

No. One company isn't going to affect shit. I have never used anything from them myself. If anything the amount and quality of free shit for PC that has been cropping up lately tells me PC is going to be a healthy platform for years and years.

They're just throwing their toys out the pram and blaming pirates, easy target for all the wrong reasons when your company is fail.

Yeah, innit. People already have an avatar, no need for your sig to be bigger than your posts, and people shouldn't scroll a screenfull just to read one line of text. I will take mine off after a bit btw.

Yeah but this isn't DOA. I don't often see a sig that big on here. Yours is the biggest I can think of. Honestly I don't mind sigs that are fairly large as long as there is some type of content there. Sometimes the sigs are more interesting than the posts on here. It's like watching the Super Bowl for the commercials. Not including last years, GO STEELERS!

You might think about redecoration. It's been a while. It really doesn't bother me though no. If anything all the sigs with the 26 digital label logo's on them get a little annoying. I am going to be making myself a real big one for myself soon

Take this thread to cuba, and no one dies.

CHEWIE, put a poll on this thread - "Have you used any prosoniq product in the past 5 years?"
It would be more interesting to take a vote on who has the worst sig in the production forum. Consider the thread JACKED!
