Re: WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF DUBSTEP??
1describe where it'll be in 5 years time?
Still going strong, but someone like Beck or Bjork will do some tune that uses the sound and bring it to attention of that cool guy arty crowd.
or there'll be more shitty pop tunes and it'll turn into a shitfest.
2whats the next sub genre of dubstep?
Argh! fuck subgenres, i like the shit that keeps changing with new sounds and bizzare noises, but i also like the minimal early stuff so fuck knows.
to be realistic it'll be some kind of drum n bass influenced thing.
3has it got where it has due to modern technology/computers/w.w web ?
yes, but it's also word of mouth and hearing it at clubs n raves.
4is it a world wide genre yet?
i have no proof, but i'm assuming people in other parts of the globe are listening and into it.

Whatever it sounds like in 5 years, it's probably not going to as exciting as you think or nearly as advanced as you think. It will probably be a lot like it already is except for the couple original sounding tunes you hear now, there will be about 50 that sound just like em. I am pretty pessimistic about the future of music tbh. I should have just avoided this thread like I was planning to.
Yeah but genres dry up and get old after a while. There will always be some other over there shit but I don't believe dubstep is a bottomless well of great music. Sounds kinda depressing but when it comes to EDM I live in the present because worrying about what it is going to be like 10 years from now is just as bad as only listening to shit from 10 years ago and saying everything coming out now is shit. Dubstep is right here right now shit and that is just alright with me.nowaysj wrote:This shit is slippery dawg, it just keeps flowing. Peoples are always going to be changing it up.

1)describe where it'll be in 5 years time? Where it is now, probably bigger but they'll still be a big underground scene of people doing their thing and not caring if people like it not, just doing it for the love
I feel that dubstep is going to branch out into many different genres. I make electro bass and dubstep but much of the elements of dubstep that I love end up in my electro trax....electo step? Anyway, I feel that as more and more producers become exposed to the raw energy and intensity of dubstep that it will infect their music making processes and we will start to hear dubstep clash with many different genres of electronic music.
2)whats the next sub genre of dubstep? I am already hearing dubstep elements in electro, bass, underground hip hop and even electro house. The subgenres are here!
3)has it got where it has due to modern technology/computers/w.w web ?
What hasn't spread as a result of modern tech? They didn't hook the decks up to a smoke signal machine! Sorry didn't mean to be sarcastic...I just can't think of another possibility.
4)is it a world wide genre yet? For sure.
