Innit....its overly long now and peeps are just using it to let off a bit of steam and getting way ahead of themselves...its pointless - think it should be closed down personally!!

*PS apologies to the author I've quoted I just wanted to nick your copy and paste of those random words I wasn't having a pop at you just using them to illustrate a point to the people shouting 'Witch'!
no worries wasn't really an attack from me, just the choice of words like "frog warrior" and "mmbo Jumbo" amused me :D. Im going to spend a bit more time reading it all to see if I can get any sense out of it but it seems like its a bit more of a presonal thing for him and the people who know then for anyone else really.

I find this comment easily as offensive as all the people slagging off Kode 9/ccru.
How, exactly? How is it offensive to ask someone to attempt to inform themselves about a subject or person before publicly (and in this case, often rudely and mockingly) criticising it/her/him? What I find offensive is the anti-intellectualism that rears up every time a discussion like this comes up. It's already been pointed out that this argument is going around in cirlces, in part, between those who have some familiarity with these ideas and those who don't care to, but who are nevertheless willing to offer their sweeping opinions. If someone's not interested in the discussion fine, but don't say it's all bullshit before you've made the effort to understand the premise.

Anyway, I shouldn't have bothered coming on here in the first place. I'm gone. Bye.

Well obviously needlessly slagging and questioning people's character is daft, no one's denying that :)

But the problem lies here. With a lot, or even most CCRU related material, if not the actual interview being discussed, the premise is deliberately hazy, and the resulting discussion unfocused. The Kodwo Eshun book you mentioned is a notable exception, but even that's a difficult read at the best of times. It's hardly surprising a lot of people are going to be put off, and even mildly unsettled.

As much as I find the anti-intellectualism and dissensus-hating on here irritating, I find the general attitude of superiority that emanates from a lot of this stuff nauseating. A lot of it has to do with the writing style of those involved, and the internet as a medium, but still.

See ya. I like your mixes by the way, looking forward to the next one :4:

The moderators have been watching this thread from page 1, and it's been hard for any of us to resist locking it down or moving it.

This is a classic "forum" type thread. As boomnoise has said best, it's full of people understanding, misunderstanding and people just deciding to be heavily critical.

There are times when it's best to shut down threads like this for a while to let people chill out a bit. This is especially the case when a thread has gone nearly 10 pages without a response from the person involved. Out of respect to 9, we're going to shut this down for a few days. This is not censorship, but more a question of it being a total eyesore at the moment. It will be unlocked eventually.

Thanks,
