Does Joker engineer / master his own tracks?

fatso and avalon 747 are both dope outboard units for warming up 2 tracks

honestly though ozone does wonders and often 'your favorite track' or whatever is even worked over with ozone

the reason tunes werent sounding spot on at fwd last week was due to some mixer issues, only one signal seemed to be coming out of the channel one just one side after serato was set up, absolutely f**k all to do with mastering quality as everything coming out on the other channel sounded boom

tracks are usually mastered by a professional mastering engineer before they hit vinyl

if hes playing tunes off CD he may have mastered them himself but you need thousands of pounds of hardware equipment to get a master sounding amazing. its not possible out of a pc alone... someone will probably come in here and say they can do it - they honestly can't. its just one of those things.

Obviously simply good production is a lot of it too. There's nothing mastering can do if the balance and positioning of the sounds isn't right to start with, and clearly that is something that Joker has got nailed... and a lot of that is to do with not trying to push everything up front but allowing some things to sit back and be subtle - it makes the things that DO hit hard work all the more effectively...

ok then. i think that the song you did 'digidesign' is really good, especially liking the way you kept it so minimal but it still keeps my interest.

music and mixdowns are different things though, all a matter of opinion in my opinion.

You were listening at Corisca, where there is a F1 system I believe... things tend to sound good on them.

Re: hardware/software, there's plenty of decent software compressors, but all the top mastering engineers swear by their outboard. And there aren't that many top mastering engineers, which should tell u something. A good one can make a huge difference to an average mixdown, can't do anything about poor mastering though.

I think that is more about writing rather then producing though. I'm sure all of his stuff goes on to be properly mixed down at plush studios, i seriously doubt Jokers stuff goes any place other then from his hdd to the mastering house.

one day soon you'll be able to do it on your watch while you ride the bus.

not as much fun as using 'inconvenient' hardware tho.

there's too much 'convenience' in the world today.

i dont think their is too much, people just abuse and when they should be thankful and mindful of it. in general that is.

but ya hardware shit is fun.
