WMC 2007 @ Miami. March 20-27 2007.

Post by moderator » Wed Oct 04, 2006 9:58 pm

We received the press release today from WMC. Not sure if this means that WMC are interested in dubstep. I guess the more important question is if dubstep is interested in being at WMC? Either way, this is just to put the dates in people's radar. If you're in south florida and have ideas for this, please post here in this thread.

I know there has been some some heavy garage parties in recent years....
Moving Dubstep into the focus makes complete sense and is a logical progression. It would be great to have a reason to head to S.Fla during WMC cos god knows Drum & Bass does not have the appeal it used to.

*good thinking. who know's who to contact about getting Dubstep on the menu?
At least for a one night thing, I'm sure there's at least a lounge somewhere which would like to host an event, if they aren't already scheduled....

*sheds tear*

i went last year and had the best week of my life. go if you can afford it, dubstep or not but be warned, it is FUCKING expensive. if you're going to go book soon as the apartments and condos sell out pretty quickly after they announce the dates.

i will definitely be going again, but not until i've paid off 2006!

^ I should think so....with how hot the Dubstep is getting, I think it would be a mistake not to have it represented.

Ive never been to WMC, usually people gab on and on about it, but this year everyone came back saying that it sucked. All the drum n bass dj's that played the conference, later played LA and most of them had a better time in LA.

That said - Its interestng to me - dubstep at the conferece, but Im in no rush.

Id rather take a trip to London to network with people in this scene.

i've been to two wmc's. it's madness. the heat, the beach, the sun & everything that goes with being in miami.
i think it's important to stress that wmc is not all dnb related. there was a time when it was controlled primarily by dnb, but now some of the biggest wmc event turnouts are the multi genre parties thrown by korg, final scratch, serato, technics and some of the magazines.

When we started talking about this we would of said impossible.(was a yr or so ago) but the way you guys have been pushing the sound out there it could happen in the future.
