dont mind the odd hip hop vocal...

but the appeal is in it being the one off, wouldnt wanna hear shit loads of rap over dubstep. not all of it would work imo.

Check the Nebulla & DJ Dore feat. Czar Black "Gettin Doe" tune. No other tune can test!

Haha good suggestions so far, but half of them have been skinny white brit kids rapping. I'm talking slow, hard hitting rap.

Must be the only person on this planet who hates hiphop vocals over anything what isn't hiphop, grime vocals not over grime (although that lewi white / ghetto stuff is pretty good hybrid) etc etc.., can't stand vocals over dubstep 90% of the time anyways so my opinion is obsolete.

dub raps "mixtape" irish bass dj goes west coast

Post by ricky-switch » Tue Apr 07, 2009 9:42 am

:o sup dubsteppas, thought this may be a good place to post my first about this project i've been working on; a new hip hop mix tape, i say hip-hop though the beats are all dubstep, all the music is from mostly well known producers (eg.caspa, wheres my money)but the vocals are all original that i have recorded on the beats as if they were our own songs. i'm done recording and mixing editing and arranging the vocals and will be starting the final dj mix soon. i have been working closely with a select group of bay area (sf,california)rappers who have really taken to the dubstep beats and feedback has been very positive so far, though most of the praise is from people within the hip hop scene, other djs and mcs. so...im curious as to how this will go down in the mainly instrumental world of dubstep,(listeners, club goers, & other djs) does anyone else think a project like this is something people want to listen too? ,in the car,at home,at the club??? ill put up a link to one or two tracks if anyone is interested.
anyone have any thoughts on this? any feedback +- much appreciated.
peace,rs

Check the link above, it's for my crew - our whole vibe is bringing a hip hop song-writing ethic to dubstep production (although we've also got a lot of DnB influence too, as one of our producers is from that scene originally)

I tried with a few wu acapella's I've got, but none of it sounded right. Their lyrics are generally too quick. It's mostly these crunk dudes that have the right tempo. Too bad they can't touch wu lyrically. Dangerous Mindz by Gravediggaz might be right though. I've been trying to hunt down the acapella.

Oh, and search for Squincy Jones - Nintendub mix. It's real good.

I've been playing @ this club here in Knoxville, TN and Dubstep has been a little slow to catch on so i've had my boy throw down some hip hop vocals on top of it and the dance floor fills. Check this out. Some of the mixing isn't perfect cause we've just started doing this but there are some very sick parts. Somebody please give me an opinion on this.

As long as rappers don't ruin the beautiful beats with stupid stupid stupid rhymes about bein cooler than everyone, shootin people up and bitches shaking their booty. I mean, I listen to dance music to get away from that bollocks. If its idiotic and bad vibes, oh my days. I mean the odd ironic gangster sample is fun, but not some dude with the IQ of 80 who sounds like he's had a stroke spittin over a perfectly good dance tune.

I'd like to here Roots Manuva on a dubstep track, not sure if it would happen tho...
