That would be the forum mix!

Yeah man! happy b-day I cannot believe it has been almost a year!

I remember before the forum there was the blog which was THE place to cop the latest mixes and learn about the music(along with gutterbreakz, blackdown's blog,riddim.ca etc...) .
Then came the forum which filled the gap that was left by dubplate.net's absence.

Now it is just amazing to me how much this thing has grown in the past year. Big up and thanks to all those responsible!

Cheers to another year!

:FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN MP3 CREATION:

Best quality for mp3 creation for anyone who maybe interested ... go to - Hydrogenaudio

MP3 creation with the LAME encoder

##################################################################################

To save yourself reading everything, just know that with the following applications you can make the best mp3 possible for free:

--> 3.97 beta 2 is the LAME version you need > download the LAME 3.97 beta 2 bundle from this page**

--> Use the '-V 2 --vbr-new' switch

--> The BEST way to rip CDs to mp3 is with EAC. The following three EAC guides are very good:
------> Guide 1 - The Coaster Factory
------> Guide 2 - Essential Ripping Guide
------> Guide 3 - Teqnilogik

--> The easiest way to convert WAVs is with: ALL2LAME or LameDropXPd v2

Audiophile geeks have tested these applications for months, so you know it's going to be the best advice.

##################################################################################

Hydrogenaudio* have officially announced a successor to their previoulsy recommended LAME mp3 encoder version 3.90.3.

The recommended version is now 3.97 beta 2.

See this post for details on the 3.97 beta Hydrogenaudio recommendation.
See this post for the Hydrogenaudio recommended LAME settings.
See this post for a high level overview of the LAME versions.

* Hydrogenaudio are widely regarded as THE digital audiophile site on the web. Most of the audio codec developers are members of the forum, and the information detailed there in stickies & posts, IMO, is the best available anywhere on the internet.

** for converting mp2 files to mp3, you'll need to use the lame3.97b2exe-fixed.zip compile, as it correctly accepts mp2 input for decoding.

a little bit unnecessary on this thread surgeon. technically dazzling and no doubt great advice but perhaps best suited to the producer forum or off topic maybe. :)

still, dubstepforum has been not without its highs a lows but nevertheless a great community which will hopefully go from strength to strength, year on year.

Been a great year, thanks for everything. Maybe someday I will actually meet some of you folks in the real world. Until then, virtual group hug.

Happy Birthday dubstepforum.com

I make no exaggerations when I say that dubstep has changed my life (well, Mary Anne said it would) and this site has been an integral part of that. I now spend more time on this darned thing than playing my beloved Pro Evo, I've traded square eyes for square eyes hehe

Peace love and all that, keep up the gd work!

it's been one crazy ride this year. there's so many people that've helped and contributed to the vibe of this forum, that it would be a bit silly listing all their names. i'll just list the key people without whom this place would've never come about.

all at Rinse FM & Dubplate.net. True pioneers of all of this. Without the dubplate.net forum, we wouldn't be here celebrating anything. It started there! Big up all at ammunition; Sarah, Neil & Envoy.

Dubway, for being the man with the vision and the chequebook to keep the lights on and make this all happen month after month after month. People don't realize how much the bandwidth of a forum like ours costs.
Out to you my friend!

THC, Doomstep, Boomnoise and of course Deapoh for holding up the planet, recording and documenting. You guys are spreading the virus as purely as it can be spread.
Out to all the dj's, radio stations, producers, mc's, labels, distro houses, mastering houses, promoters, agents and online stores. It's big!

Enough with the words. back to the beats. postivity crew, hold tight.

my lord im pissed so im going to cut it short.
something about authenticity and community...
think i should claim this as a religious holiday next year.

peace!
