Think it's got something to do with the fact that there's a very large link between grime and dubstep.
in london there was a large grime scene and anybody that's been to a grime rave nos that more often than not there was beef.
i reckon the association in people's minds stops girls from going coz they don't like the aggro.
put another way. internationally the poeple getting into dubstep now are more from techno or trancey backgrounds than they will be from a grime background. There's already plenty of girls in them musics whereas mebe not so in grime.
jst a thort.. feel free to disagree.
good point...
also london is just spoilt for choice musically, there is so much going on. its easy for people to overlook dubstep if there in set ways.
Also with the rise of "uk funky" a lot of girls (and people in general) may not be so bothered with dubstep. now that mite be slightly to do with the music BUT i think the majority of it is down to the less aggy vibe and the reputation house music in general has...
but its ironic, i hear of more trouble at those nights then at nights where u got the most aggressive dubstep and dnb you could think of.

Dubstep is SO new & underground here in San Diego I think it's not so much that girls arent diggin on Dubstep.. I think they just don't really know about it... but that's changing... especially when sexy mo fo's like myself start doing more
Maybe part of the reason we didn't get as many of girls at the Elev8 shows could also be because... there was a kinda lame vibe going on there for a minute. The majority of people who were there EVERY week... were fellow DJ's & producers...single, and on the whole "I'm a DJ" bit.. tryin to use status to get in them panties... but what do i know.

the last few post are funny! but yeah, chicks fuckin get DOWN in ST. LOUIS to some DUBSTEP. i could only imagine everywhere else'd be the same. guess not.....
aint really been out to that many dubstep nights in the past year or so other than FWD, dmz and one night at fabric. is this situation still the same in London?
*edit: just re-read my posts in this thread lol. seems like I was goin to more girl friendly nights before, either those nights stopped happening or i stopped lookin for them. probably the latter cos I got put off a bit by the whole "brostep" expansion n just ended up stickin to the traditional nights. im guessing the crowd with more girls went the other way. Also it sounded like I was slightly a bit deluded, cos in all fairness it was still slackin a bit in london cos the ratios were always significantly skewed lol.

I actually hear a lot of girls say that.
"Dubsteps too slow, you can't dance to it!"
I said that it's the same tempo as garage as you can dance either half time or with every beat like garage but none of my friends that are girls seem to be into it....
That's why they like the bro step. You don't have to feel the rhythm; ''waaaaah wubwubwubwub wanganaganaga constipated horse sound'' skull fucks you into wobbling from side to side, there's no room for any other interpretation.
If they have to fill in the space themselves and actually sense the rhythm then they aren't interested, not that this is something specific to chicks..
