Ok as it's our first day trading we will remove the £2.00 postage costs, just for today. They will return tomorrow though.

Well opinion divided, I thought they were.

Everybody struggles with at least 1 aspect of production, and my bug-bear is creating fresh and original sounding bass.

Ras, if you struggle to achieve the basslines on the demo tune, you may as well give up now. :(

Some of the beats sounded alright though :)

Cheers F.U. Nice to have some positivity on here for once...

I never said I couldn't create bass sounds, just that creating fresh (read original) sounding ones is more of a bug-bear for me.

You never have any issues when producing?

I agree with your point that original basses can be slightly more complex to produce, but all the basses I heard in the demo sounded like generic wobbles to me. :(

I did note that they had a nice weightiness to them which many producers struggle to achieve. That said, I believe this was more to do with an EQ being used to boost the sub as opposed to the patches themselves being subby.

Having synthesised well over 450 bass patches in Reason, I can assure you that there is countless scope for creativity within Reason alone.

What is infinetly harder for me personally is mixing bass correctly. I regularly struggle to achieve a good balance between all the elements of a track.

I'm sure that you agree that one cannot master a track using a preset. Then why use a generic bass patch then? In my opinion, even as a template for building more complex sounds, they didn't sound particularly useful.

Considering that people give away patches & refills for free, why should I be positive about a set of generic cack being provided at a price? :o

However, I was trying to be positive when I stated that I felt the beats were alright.... ;)

No worries F.U.

I know exactly what you mean with regards to getting a decent balance within the mix, and I've only recently started cracking it myself when it comes to getting a decent mix between the bass, and say, the kick.

I picked up your gratis bass patches you posted recently and was impressed. I certainly have to work hard on getting my bass sounds sounding up to scratch to what I expect of my own work.

Just listening to your tracks on myspizzle.

Heckle is a pretty tough beat! :)

Tbh, I think your production level surpasses the skills of this thread's Refill producers! 8)

Ps, just on my 3rd reload haha! Big tune!

I like the bouncy nature of the tune, and the drums seem to drive everything along with a glitchy frenzy! :)

Re my freebie combi's:

Not my best ones tbh. They're very old now. The Multibass 3 patch is ok I guess..

Not at all trying to sound like im hating on anything...cos even if I was unintentionally, I just cant be fucked with e-beef

Either way, I just cant see how that sentence makes sense :o Surely buying a collection of preset bass patches is the exact polar opposite of creating fresh and orginal sounding bass?

Like...I literally can't think of anything more contradictory off the top of my head :D

No beef taken (i'm not Rendr!).

I can see how my comment comes across as contradictory, but I, personally, don't buy sample packs. I was being cheeky when I suggested a discount to DSF users!

Thanks F.U. I appreciate all forms of critique. Helps the future productions!

'Get Grimey' isn't my usual style. It's a remix is was asked to do and i was kinda blowing the cobwebs out with it!.

The track does actually use sample pack samples, but they were intrinsic parts of the original track, so I couldn't say no!

Keep reloading!!!

What are refills exactly? Are they loops or patches or something else?
Always wondered, never really found a good enough description.

A Refill is a collection of Reason Patches bundled together into one file.

Thanks for the constructive comments you've all given, we've read each one and visited your web pages and listened to your tracks, which were in all cases of a very high standard.

The idea for ghetto bass came back in October last year when we were searching for sample cds with .wav multisampled synth patches. What we found were a load of boring, lifeless waveforms or just loops that everyone else could own.
We decided to design and record our own patches using the hardware and software that we had bought over the last 12 years. We recorded each note into audacity and then used various software programs to shape & boost the sounds that we originally created before rexxing them up in recycle, ready to make further patches in our favourite program of choice - propellerhead reason 4.
Many of you may not need these sounds as you are excellent producers but some of you may want them either for inspirational purposes or because you don't want to bury your head into sound synthesis instead of creating music.
Anyway that's our tuppence worth on the subject that we're responsible for creating.

Btw - The wobbles in the demo were created by patching an lfo into one of the combinator rotary knobs and then automating them during playback or using the sequencer.

Thanks for your time.
