HBO has redefined television for me. Engrossing, thought provoking programs with amazing characters who are never as black and white as in most dramas and storylines that don't hold your hand or appeal to current OTT, 'unique selling point' audience desires. First got into HBO programming in 1998 through Oz and it's been one landmark series after another since then.

Currently watching Deadwood. About halfway through season 2. Better than The Wire maybe?? Knowing that it's getting closer to ending with every episode that I watch saddens me

It's far more stylised than the Wire, particularly in the speech. Ian McShane is just incredibly good as Swearengen, probably the best charachter in any modern drama. Some amazing scenes too - the removal of the kidney stones :o

John from Cincinatti that Milch did after Deadwood is well worth a watch too, It is extremely odd, but compulsive.

Word. Best person to ever work in television, IMHO.

HBO produce good stuff though. I've just started Eastbound and Down... looks like it might be decent.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is essential for a healthy life and glossy coat.

HBO FTW

me and a mate at work were discussing this the other day, I realised 4 of my top 5 tv shows ever are HBO, such outstanding programming, Generation Kill was one of the finest pieces of tv I have seen in years.
And Curb is the best comedy of all time, end of discussion.

summer heights high
(which was fantastic, too bad it ended)

true blood
(waiting for new season!)

i really like in treatment too and of course flight of the conchords andddd entourage and curb your enthusiasm.

if we wanna take it back a little, six feet under was really good and mr. show was CLASSIC.
