145 bounces a little better like hip-hop...i like how most 140 tracks sound sped up a bit as well.

so fuckin boost ur pitch when you spin jesus.
im pretty sure that dj's match their tempos with the vibe of the room.
if u gotta crank it to 144 cuz the people are movin a little faster then whatever. personally i think its kick ass that most tunes are the same BPM, you can do a lot with the 140 tempo and thats why we love it.
dubstep IS 140ishBPM and Sub. the end.

We might as well all get traktor or ableton and let it auto synch our music for us so we can spend more time with our hands in the air in true tiesto style.
Traktor only auto-syncs it correctly if you understand your tunes and prepare them beforehand. Most if not all of my friends of similar age (I'm 16) do NOT know how to get their traktor beatgrids to function correctly and as a result, their tunes don't line up. Also, you still have to start at an appropriate time in the tune. You don't just press sync and then play at some random time and it's gonna get the phrasing right.
Traktor is not cheating and it's fairly noob proof, seeing as the BPM counter often gets it just a bit off... The 15-16 year old you describe wouldn't think to adjust it themselves.

But isn't it the same?yong wrote:I get bored when I mix at 140.NilsFG wrote:Why?yong wrote:I produce at 140, but I ALWAYS spin in the range of 142-145.
No, really.
Like you put a 140 bpm track at 145, and you blend in another 140 bpm, it's just setting the pitch on turntable B the same as on turntable A.
And tracktor, torq etc only work IF you have a tempo that is accurate to 1 decimal point (but in my experienance only if its 138, 139, 149 etc.. once it starts going to 138.9 it loses time, and 138.95 etc, you've lost it and it can only mix by ear...yong wrote:deadaelus wrote:i guess the point i was originally trying to make is that a bunch of junior dj's at 15-16 years old are not learning to actually mix music.

Though those people that haven't used it wouldn't have a clue, and would assume its some magical machine that you press a button and it automatically mixes for you. This is not the case.

Re: 140 bpm?
Sorry I am just going to jump to answering the very first part of this thread {As it caught my attention} Other wise I may be wrapped in a world of others thoughts. Which at some points in time has been good learning for me. however I'd like to stay on task atm.deadaelus wrote:Why do so many producers make there tracks at exactly 140bpm?
This makes it way to easy for people to mix, and subsequently drawing the wrong type of people toward mixing dubstep.
Thoughts?
With that said the labelish mantis thingy i hang out on. I have always been a big fan of the dubstep bpm being around 138 to 142 bpmish dont ask me why I probably didnt want to conform to the standard. It has to be 140 or else bpm way.
who the hell made that rule anyway?

But I do remember talking over dinner with this cat I dig a whole bunch djunya about the 140 bpm action and the heart beat....What a wonderful conversation!!! I can dig on a bass that vibes the heart. shakes it up....clears it out.
As for the wrong type of people words thingy posted above....
A year ago I could have been upset just reading those words.Thinking 2 myself Who the hell are you? To say the wrong kinda people!!!!
this is a thought that might have popped in my head.... I might have even gotten pissed off about it.

However these days I like to re~rock some different thoughts. Some i will share.
1.0 there is no wrong kinda people
1.5 there is only a process
2.0 when you=me =us started mixing no matter what BPM & who's super cool unreleased tunes we R mixing most often it sounds like shit.

{and i say this with love but in my experience no one sounds good the first time they mix.}
till ya get the hang of it with practice as well as trust yourself enough in the mix to let it flow freely and then you begin to Develop your very own Fucking Kick Ass Style
some peeps even believe in there is no right and wrong. but i'll leave the rest of my thoughts for another time and space.
I WANT to hear a sound that is at the bpm of Pi (it's a Greek letter) is the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter. It's usually expressed as 3.14, but is in fact a nonrepeating, nonterminating decimal number.
3.14159265358979 should be more than sufficient for any use outside the most advanced math classes.
I have no idea if this is possible as i was never ever good at mathish stuff.
Pi it just came 2 mind but it made me think and then laugh at myself. which i like to do sometimes.
anyway thanks for attracting my attention for a moment.
Peace B.
