What's a VIP version of a track?

Post by mgpg89 » Tue Apr 14, 2009 1:01 pm

(sorry of this is a noobish question, but i'm pretty new to the scene)

everywhere I see these VIP versions pop up of existing tracks (and they usually beat the shit out of the original)

care to explain anyone?

Sometimes you see people have slightly different views on what constitutes one. As DROKKR said, the remix has to be done by the original producer. However, sometimes it's also taken to mean a version that's the producer's own for playing out (not to be released, and we know that a lot of V.I.P.s do get released), and it might be just a minor tweak to the track rather than a full-on remix.

it's usually some shitty half arsed remix of a tune that sounded good anyway.

however there are some amazing vips, like the one pinch did of Qawwali

if you buy a VIP copy of a tune it comes with a bottle of champagne

hence why almost all of them are necked by plastician before you'll ever get a chance to drink the fresh bubbly goodness

take a tune, change the notes, add a kick somewhere, a snare, add some more bass and you got yourself a VIP
