Mate, this guy robbed his flatmates under garments for sordid acitivites and publicised these facts on the internet. Full power to say whatever the hell he wants in my eyes. Big look.datura wrote:So I need to add 'lack of wit' to 'patronising', 'looks like a lesbian'. 'emo prick' and 'needs to leave the house and step away from the computer' among other charachteristics to summarise you.

And yeah, probably should have worded it better but I was in a hurry typing and couldn't be bothered to add my usual flowery-farty language to imply the non verbal side of conversation...
But yeah, I still stand by my point that more trouble is caused by people saying stopping smoking is hard than is prevented. Get through alot of tobacco in me joints too, and dont smoke anything when I stop over exams. I dunno, ive never felt any problem stopping at all, almost find it empowering to be able to not to be honest.
And its AMAZING to see the gallons of putrid phlegm exit yo bad self a couple of weeks down the line

I started getting the same thing and had to cut down. To someone who said just deal with the panic attacks, you've obviously never had a panic attack. It's dark. For me cutting down meant avoiding some of my mates that were heavy stoners.

Like, I swear 90% of the reason people find it hard to stop smoking is because everyone says how hard it is. I smoke weed daily, but every year I stop for about 6-8 weeks over my exams, and for me its literally never been anything other than a case of "im not going to smoke till after exams", followed by...not wanting to/smoking anything till after exams.
This isn't the same as giving up weed. You just stop smoking when everyone else stops and you are cooped up by yourself revising. Try giving up whilst jamming with your mates and everyone around you is smoking daily. You'll find it a much more difficult prospect.
Nah man, I do have people smoking weed around me every day. Its just a matter of saying no.
I still don't really think it's the same as giving it up. Giving up for exams was far easier for me, circumstances are obviously different. If people are still smoking around you, they're obviously smoking less, you spend a lot of time by yourself, and you have a clear focus in sight, then it's "After this I can smoke all I want".
Giving up for good is like breaking away from the entire stoner lifestyle, your lifestyle, not just the drug. And somehow 'betraying' other stoners, by leaving the community. Obviously you're not really changing anything a great deal about yourself, but that's what it feels like at first. It's the discomfort caused by this seemingly rapid change that can draw you back easily. Obviously it's not like giving up a serious drug like Heroin or something, but it's not as easy as switching off a light either.
I still smoke on occasion, but every few weeks as opposed to "all dai, every dai!"

Thats a really fucking good point. I think to not find it hard to stop smoking for a little while is more addressing the physical side of the addiction (which with marijuana is zero, although the tobacco is obviously a different story...I just seem to be fine with it. Probably due to a lack of a mental association with needing nicotine or some equally wordy shit.)XArcane wrote:I started getting the same thing and had to cut down. Although, this is pretty much (depending on if I pass these exams

Got to say I don't think im going to miss it either. Again probably half the reason I don't seem to find it hard to stop, I think my love affair with the stoner life style has started to fade. Enjoyed thoroughly, but spent enough time on a sofa for one life time I think

For me, dope's easy to forgo if it's not around.
My liver's sore lately so I'm cutting alcohol....lot harder re temptation.
Seem to want a carbonated beverage
so going ginger beer & apple juice.
Willpower is a large part but avoiding exposure helps.
Big hugs to tobacco smokers trying to give up.
You need to.
Firky, a heads up mate.
Over time and from self-revelatory purging,
you might come to realize that Datura is a demi-god
occasionally visiting us to deliver timely grounding.

I quit a few months back. The crazy dreams and night sweats were disconcerning, but, leaving the lifestyle...my lifestyle...culture...is still the hardest part for me. I had such an easy going, kind, personality... sometimes I wonder if I have lost some of that, or will lose some of that, since I quit.
- Keep yerself occupied - A big must
Keep a good appetite going
Exercise
The 3 best things you can do for yourself.
If yer having trouble sleeping, get some Diphenhydramine or some other OTC sedative. Or go to yer doc n get some Temazepam or something (Ambien [Zolpidem] and the other Z-Hypnotics aren't as good and are far too trippy).

Hey,
I have been smoking weeds for 10 years and quit for the first time this year, I had a whole month without but then went to bloc and had a few puffs.
Have about £5 worth a week now as the main reason I wanted to quit was cash and I was spending way too much, I have much smaller amounts in joints now and only have 1 or 2 in the evening rather than constantly smoking from 5pm till 12
If you find it hard to completely give up, it makes a big difference to cut down loads, save money, less stoned all the time and you feel alot better as well. or just take up heavydrinking as a substitute..

i guess it shouldn't be quitting vs getting fucked, but quitting vs doing some efforts to manage the problem, where by "problem" we understand side effects due to excess

yeah..the emotional bond is attached when you work on weed.. then whenever you do work, you want weed. the trick is to do the work without it.
i suggest cannabis sativas' best friend, psilocybe cubensis, on a bi-monthly basis. you can't really abuse those
from that 6 times a year, you should learn more than daily smoking will ever teach you.
