tune tagging and tracklist inclusion for mixes
some of you guys need to get better at including your name in track titles because its impossible to know who did what when there's a dozen tracks on the desktop with no artist name
edit:
another suggestion for djs posting mixes.
rather than just put up an mp3, why not put the mp3 in a folder, include a txt file with the tracklisting, and then zip it up and post that

lol a bit harsh. If you got sent a CD with nothing on it, is it your responsibility to write on the thing when you receive it?? It's a bit of an oversight of the artist to say the least!!! I always make sure I tag my mp3s and write on CDs. It ain't about 'a freebie', its about promotion, and if you can't promote yourself by tagging your shit, you're gonna lose out somewhere along the line.Thomas Edison wrote:or you can stop whining and pay attention when saving something, i bet you know how to type so you can fix it yourself

ofcourse you should make shure you have the needed info when saving some stuff.
but i agree it is much easier when the uploading producer/dj sorts everything out in advance. it's for your own good, make a bit of selfpromotion, with website links and all in the id3

In Winamp, right click and select "view file info". The tracklist is under comments. If there isn't a character limit in the artist / title section of the ID3 tag, one could put the tracklist there and have it display as it plays. Stone-age versions of Winamp only support the ID3v1 tag, which gives you some stupidly short character limit to identify an MP3; not sure if there is a limit at all in ID3v2...

I put the tracklistings (and track timings!) in the "Lyrics" field, which seems to work cross-platform.

Big up, I'm always hassling mans to do this....
Easiest way is to set the Options in Windows Media Player to 'rename audio files using rip music settings' after you have changed the 'File Name' tick boxes to include what info you want in the filename, and thewn update the 'artist' / 'title' fields etc, and it catches up eventually, depending how many MP3s / WMAs you are working on....

Yea, I dunno - the Lyrics field might be an iTunes thing... but whenever I release mixes, I put my tracklist in the lyrics part. Even include album artwork. On an iPod you can see the album artwork, and if you press the center button a few times it will show the lyrics on the ipod... good for when im listening to mixes and cant remember the name of a tune if i like it.
i could care less !!!Deapoh wrote:I get the same all the time. I just deleted probabhly 20 tracks with no artist name. Pointless really.Parson wrote:or maybe i give lots of people feedback and don't know who to give feedback to because i have files all over my desktop that are poorly tagged
if tune is hot, ima keep it.
i also have tons of tracks with no names, or just track names.
if u wanna recieve credit, kinda important to add your name !!
