Midi Controllers!

Post by obri3n » Thu Apr 30, 2009 12:01 am

What midi gear are you using? Keyboards/knobs/buttons/faders/etc...

Currently using all the korg nano gear (keys/pad/kontrol)

Really compact and easy to use, even on a comedown in grandmas chair with ya knees up! But... the keys have started screwing up :D oh well... Get what ya pay for.

Been eyeing up the new akai mpk25 is it? the smaller one. Had the mpk49 which was a beast but too big. im know beethoven.

Any better options ?

got the nanokey, last week, used it 2 days now its borken, already!!! Not too impressed. I'm just gonna buy a different midi keyboard instead that is only $20 more but looks way sturdier. Think it's a carillion 25 key? Even has abut 4 or so assignable knobs..

However i do have the PadKontrol and must say it is excellent. Even using it as a keybaord till i get the replacement for the NanoKey.

I got M-Audio Oxygen 8V2
Wanted to get the Axiom 25 but decided to just get this one and i love it.
After I had ordered it, I started thinking if I should have waited for something better but now I got it I'm glad I have, it's a nice bit of kit.

I have an original Oxygen 8 and just got a Korg nanoKontrol. I've heard the nanoKey is shitty, but I have nothing but praise for the nanoKontrol...absolutely love it right now.

I had tunes signed before I even got a midi controller, so really these two things do everything I need them to do and more. That isn't to say I wouldn't want some extra toys though :P

The automap stuff is fantastic.

I bought a brand new remote zeroSL last year - thinking of selling to buy the new MK2s... looks awesome.

essential. Speeds up synths programming etc by a factor of 100

not even got into it for mixing yet. faders are crap anyway (for mixing, good for synths and effects).

good topic for me to ask something I guess..

I have a Midair25 at the moment and I am looking for something bigger (49key would be good since the space for my keyboard isn't insanely big)
don't want an insane amount of sliders or knobs, 4 of either would be nice but I can live without them with a mid and pitch wheel - any ideas!? Nothing to plasticy-feeling but nothing to expensive.

What do you mean faders? Like sliders? or crossfader?

I don't mix with the cross fader at all, always tricks me up when going b2b with someone who does...

I don't have any sliders/faders on my current controller... i really wish i did.

I use the Novation Remote SL 37 midi controller and I love it. You should check out some demos on YouTube or find the controllers on the internet and see what fits you best.

I found out I needed controle of all effects, filters, etc. and Novation Remote SL 37 allows me to do so. It's very nice!
