I love pretty much all his releases, but I was actually really disappointed with this one. The tunes are quite bland, repetitive, boring. Not as musical or interesting as his usual releases. Was surprised I didn't want to buy it.Spire wrote: RSD - On Deck/Accepted

I generally will get a fairly large order every couple of months, and then just buy the odd plate in between if I have spare cash. Although this time I pretty much maxed my overdraft

I think it stems from the fact that a lot of the records I buy are white labels. I actually play / buy reggae / roots etc. as well, and I go for a lot of the small-run mash-up pressings. They can such a pain in the ass to get a hold of, every time I get a good sized order lined up I just go for it. Then rue the fact I don't have any money. I've been steadily chipping into my savings since januaryThe Wiggle Baron wrote:Blimey, I havent picked up an order like that in a while De-Fi

Ive spent the last couple of years umming and erring over the idea of starting to put together a reggae collection.
And I think ive come to (in my case I think wise!) decision to not. I just...dont have the moolah for it
. Collecting jamaican music would be the final nail in my HSBC shaped coffin.

Was almost in tears reading the last couple of posts in this thread.I lost all me vinyl in a burglary a while back[as well as decks and a mixer]including at least a thousand ska, rocksteady, roots, dub and dancehall 7" and 12"".Worst thing was most of it was found just up the road by a flatmate trashed to fuck. The Wiggle Baron wrote:Ive spent the last couple of years umming and erring over the idea of starting to put together a reggae collection.

I love vinyl to death but don't know if I can ever go back to collecting it again.
The thing about it, especially with reggae and the like, is that even if it WERE insured, the chances of getting that song, on that cut, from that pressing, is like 1 in a million.
Was any of the vinyl in a condition worth keeping? Learnt any lessons trying to protect it?
I'm moving into my first house next year, in a not-amazingly safe studenty part of Cardiff. My room is downstairs by a window and I'm petrified something similar could happen.

I literally don't know what to say...cos it really doesn't matter. As a fellow vinyl enthusiast, I literally just...don't know what to saybassmonk wrote:Was almost in tears reading the last couple of posts in this thread.I lost all me vinyl in a burglary a while back[as well as decks and a mixer]including at least a thousand ska, rocksteady, roots, dub and dancehall 7" and 12"".Worst thing was most of it was found just up the road by a flatmate trashed to fuck. The Wiggle Baron wrote:Ive spent the last couple of years umming and erring over the idea of starting to put together a reggae collection.

It's really easy to spend far too much on it as well. The Wiggle Baron wrote:Ive spent the last couple of years umming and erring over the idea of starting to put together a reggae collection.

I generally buy online (or there's a couple of shops back in bristol I frequent), so I'll put a fairly large order in again to save a little on shipping. Each 7" might cost between $2-5 or E3-4 (euros), which doesn't seem like much. So I keep adding them to my basket, then go to check it at the end.
When you add up the price of about 25, with VAT and Shipping, my average order would be about £100
But as I said, it probably only works out at about £30 a month on average, maybe £100-150 every few months. I have put in some massive orders before though, one after my Christmas paypacket was about £250 or something. I save up the money I get when I DJ, and I'm not a particular mess-head, so I don't have a lot of other expenditure.
Yeah wasn't about the money at all really[tho there were a few rarities] ,just the fact I'll never hear or play those tunes again. If someone had nicked em to try and sell em i'd still be angry as fuck but i'd vaguely understand. The fact they took it just so they could stamp on it,set fire to it ,chuck it in the canal whatever just sickens me to fuck.If ever anyone deserved to be fucked up the arse with rusty razorblades, then they're prime candidates.De-Fi wrote:Ah mate that's unbelievably suckybassmonk wrote:Was almost in tears reading the last couple of posts in this thread.I lost all me vinyl in a burglary a while back[as well as decks and a mixer]including at least a thousand ska, rocksteady, roots, dub and dancehall 7" and 12"".Worst thing was most of it was found just up the road by a flatmate trashed to fuck. The Wiggle Baron wrote:Ive spent the last couple of years umming and erring over the idea of starting to put together a reggae collection.
