What is Deepstep?

Post by vital sines » Sat May 02, 2009 10:09 am

I was wondering if this was a genre, and with your guys help and info from
Sitting ovation blog, I've come to a conclusion. Is Deeepstep already a sub genre of Dubstep. Maybe it is.

http://www.sittingovation.com/dubstep/d ... -to-start/

Here's my blog on it!

Deepstep is sub genre of Dubstep, that has deep house, techno, and soul influences. Most of the time the beats are skippy & shuffled 2 Step beats. There are halfstep Deepstep tunes also. Some of the key players making Deepstep are Burial, Synkro, Geiom, Ramadanman,Pangaea, Conquest (or Quest), Absense, Indigo, Martyn, TRG, 2562, Sines, Narcossist, Asa, XXXY, and Quantum Soul just to name a few. Some of it's early influences are Roy Davis Jr.'s "Gabriel", El-B, Horsepower Productions, and Goldspot Productions.

I hope you enjoy this exciting & fresh form of music.

Big up on the mention but at the end of the day what does all of the above mentioned music have in common?

The tunes are around 140, most of the time, and there is always a heavy bass presence. These are ofcourse the only real guidelines or parameters that dubstep is grounded in,

Everyone wants to meditate on bass-weight in their own way, that is the beauty of it and in-turn the attraction.

......then again, i guess it's all just stepstep

Yeah it's a shame. He's not produced anything for about two years now. Having said that he has got his head stuck in his degree whbich is good. i think we might hear something from him soon though.

I don't understand why people just play 'Deep' Dubstep sets or 'Wobbly' Dubstep sets, you gotta mix everything up for a varied evening.

Then again, I don't understand how people could only listen to one genre of music like Dubstep anyway sooooo..
