i still don't think the tracks are exceptional by any means, but hearing them in all their complete glory is much nicer than on those samples. i especially like wolf cub when it is pitched down slightly... reminds me a little of tangerine dreams "love on a real train" for some reason!

i will say one big negative and that is the press isn't the best. shitloads of surface noise on the "moth" side and pressed a little too quiet. this would normally work with burials music, but then again, this doesn't sound much like his usual stuff!

7/10

Heavy thread.

I'd probably contribute more if I didn't have anything better to do in life.

But I do.... which is why I'm going to go on living, listen to what I think is good music (Burial is certainly up there), have an opinion... just not get involved.

Peace bredwins.

Have to say I like both tracks, at least they are different in feel to what you'd expect. Which is a good thing, and maybe a sign of things to come.

The more faster of the 2 tracks is a nice psychedelic melting pot of 2 step and Vietnamese Gamelan/bamboo percussion sounds, it feels more kind of 'happy' than the normal Burial stuff. As before, it's got those trademark 'sliding' background vocal samples buried in the mix.
I get images of the far east and Asia and hothouse jungles in this one. Strangely though, there's a touch of Detroit in the strings and that synth melody that comes in, which conversely also lends it a 'cityscape' kind of flow.

The slower four/four track sounds like someone's been listening to the Kompakt label, echoes of the Field and Gui Borato here.
Someone mentioned the Border Community label, but to me, it's far more reminiscent of The Field than anything else, it's got that hypnotic quality to it.
Again, it's got the familiar Burial sounds in it, but It's nice that the whole thing sounds like something new.
Everyone is gonna hear something different in it, and read into things what they will.
Whether or not it's a sign of future releases or not. It's just a 12" with some nice music, and some nice ideas on it.

End of.

I'm really confused about the track names.

Listen to the Samples here:
http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/se ... ack=TEXT06

and here:
http://gorillavsbear.blogspot.com/2009/ ... -moth.html

They are exactly the other way around. Which one is really Moth and which one is Wolf Cub?

what happened to your life?

tbh its just a bit rude to give people the whole 'you don't have a life' shit because they're happy to debate about music on the forum, when you're clearly checking up on this thread yourself
