i love my tapco s8's, high end is so clear it's almost to the point of annoyance that mixes i loved playing before on other speakers i can spot the distortion from dj's turning shit up to loud.

plenty of bass without being too overpowering, mid's could be better but i am used to NS10's so thats to be expected.

can tell they have been designed/tuned well as the cones hardly move even at loud volumes + a protection circuit if the excursion ever does get to much.

can't recommend them enough for the price!

fuck it, it's obviously gonna have to be krk's after looking at everyone's opinion. gonna email htfr to see if they still have any of there red generation 1 speakers still available from there site, as they've dissppeared now. if not, it's a set of generation 2 rp5's or rp6's

tied between 2 i can buy providing my extra paypal money goes in tomorrow, so i can use my 10% off ebay voucher which expires tomorrow.

the krk rp5 2nd gens or the alesis m1 620's

i don't have the patience to save up for rp8's as i'm not at the right level with music just yet.

ties on this i think...

FWIW - both are reviewed well

However, I have seen more complaining about the sound of the Alesis than the KRKs

I got the KRKs and I have no complaints, surprised how much I like them.

I am no pro though.

the monitor debate from me has come to a happy ending.

snapped a pair of lightly used m1 active mark 2's for 160 including delivery + the 10% off voucher, bringing it to 146 quid :D

not quite the krk's i was looking for, but for that price, a fucking bargain none the less.

might go spunk my leftover change on a oxygen midi or something. thanks for all your help everyone :D
