nice work pete!

looks a bit 90's, but so does everybody's at first!

I suggest taking out the border on the title banner so it looks like that nice font is floating- you could make it bigger too I think.

What is the name of that font? I want it!

Have you used a template for this? If so, get into your css file and knock those white borders back to 1px grey, so they are barely visible... they stand out far too much at the moment. same goes for the links at the top...

yeah, it is simple, for one reason:

I don't have the skills to make it fancy!

Gotta work with what you got! Took me friggin ages to look at sites which were simple but I liked and learn how they do their thing. Hack it all to pieces and make my own.

You don't think it looks too much like a blog?

Hi Pete,

Well done on getting something up and running.

First thing is that it might be an idea to have all of your links open up in a new window, so you don't lose your visitors to those messy boards, add target="_blank" to the link code.

The header at the top looks a bit "out" with the rest of the page centred, maybe make it the same width as the page content and have it sit a little lower. It should fit with the colouring of the top link buttons if you want it to look more integrated with them. I'd also make the "natural resonance" text white to match the text on the buttons to make it a bit stronger.

Have a peep at my site http://www.codetrip.net if you want to see where I'm coming from.

tres nekkling andy! cheers for the words. yup that border on the title is going, good call.

No template, but it is css, and you're probably right the borders could be quieter. I will get to work on it.

And it's black because it's easiest on the eyes. Too many heads used to reading DogsOnAcid can't handle bright colours!!! :P

aww cheers for the words mang, definately sage advice, I will get to work on that, I must admit I am struggling with the link buttons css design at the top of the page, so I might change the to flash buttons. Your site is niceman, has a strong theme throughout!

there are plenty of other dark colours... the problem with black is that it's totally nondescript. Your site looks no different to any dubstep blog I've ever seen.

I've just got a chip on my shoulder I think.

Nah, that's fairplay mate. You're right, it is pretty standard. To be honest I ent for black because it's easy and with the site only just having it's basic css structure completed, I got excited and wanted to show it off. I will get the black changed over the weeknd with some pretty design! Promise!

Whats the problem with the buttons? i think you just need to make them sit in with the rest of the design. Nothing much wrong with black as a background imo, but yea, as andy says, it's quite popular look. Your new header and tweaks could make it look lots more classy. Let's have a look at v2 when you're ready.
