Best Speakers to LISTEN to dubstep on and do some mixing wit
Well I was thinking of doins some production but I think that could be a little way off for me. It was suggested to me that I buy krk rokit 6" for production, but are these only good for production? Or will they sound good for just listening to dubstep too? Because that is what I am mainly going to be doing.
If not then can you suggest some nice speakers that are good to plug my mixer that I'm getting into (Vestax PCV275). I'm looking for about 250 to 350 quid.
Thanks for your help!

i've got the krk 6's - theyre perfect for my room, some people complain about the bass response not being good enough but theyre fine! If your wanting a set of speakers you can get good acurate mixdowns on but also crank your bass up when your mixing then i'd deffo go for krk's. you could also try and get the limited edition white ones cos they look sexy as fuck!Alty wrote:Well I was thinking of doins some production but I think that could be a little way off for me. From what i've seen and heard its just the shape of the speakers thats different and also the materials used in the new ones, the cones are made of some sick kevlar mateiral - apparently the new design stops early reflections which may cloud mixing slightly caused by the old designs sharp corners.Alty wrote:Thanks yeah I think I'll buy those KRK Rokits thenOne more question I've noticed there are generation 1 and gen 2 models. I can get the gen 1 models for about 80 quid less. What extra features do the second generation have that make it worth that 80 quid?
Now to be perfectly honest your not going to notice a difference between the two unless your a total audiophile - i just went for the new ones cos i had the money and they were cheap at the time.

Music stores are so far away from where we live and if I decided to go they may not have them there or something. I'd rather not :/R wrote:go to a store with a cd and listen.
Thanks MiscreanT. One last probably nooby quesiton... are these powered or passive speakers? I couldn't find it on the website. I assume they are passive, in which case any suggestions on an amp I might need?

nope, powered! Kinda why theyre a bit more expensive (yet still very reasonable!)Alty wrote:Music stores are so far away from where we live and if I decided to go they may not have them there or something. I'd rather not :/R wrote:go to a store with a cd and listen.

just got myself some rp5's and they're sick... perfect for small rooms, have you checked out the krk10s? http://djempire.co.uk/product/krk-rp10s ... price-each looks like a nice sub for the price, active of course...
edit: linked to that shop 'cos it was the cheapest we could find it

Buying a subwoofer would stretch me too far!
Also still need help on how I should connect it with my PC and my mixer... Is there actually a way to connect both at once? My PC is the 1/8 TRS cable and the mixer is 1/4 TRS cable.
I'm thinking of buying two RCA to 1/8 TRS converts and plugging them into the speakers and the other end into my PC (Although I don't know which jacks to plug them in to). Or do you think I could get a cable that has one 1/8 TRS on one and and then splits and goes to two channels of RCA and which I can just plug into my green jack?

Dunno if your budget will stretch that far but by far the best way of connecting decks + speakers to your PC is by using a mixer e.g:
http://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_ub1002_eurorack.htm
Connect your soundcard to on of the line inputs, the output of your DJ mixer to another and your speakers to the main out and hey presto, you can control the volume of your decks + computers simultantiously through an external mixer.
I use a setup similar to this and I love it, wouldn't have it any other way.
EDIT: This also will allow you to connect external recording sources to your computer so when you get into production you can start using it.

OK well I bought that cable!
I like the idea of the PC to mixer to speaker set up. I'm getting this mixer http://www.vestax.com/v/products/mixers/pcv-275.html but only in about a month. I guess I can then just use the PC jack to RCA cable to attach the line out from my sound card to my mixer.
Also these speakers do come with power cables right??
Any other cables they come with?
