Indeed. They're more the symptom than the cause. It's not Telecasters that cause people to make shit music. They'd do that whatever guitar they picked up. It's because they're stnuc.Uncle Bill wrote:Only kidding. Teles are fine except when played by haircuts with skinny ties.Reptilian wrote:don't you say that about telecastersUncle Bill wrote:Yeah! Snap on the SG though Reptilian: I've got an SG copy, it's nice apart from it always wants to point towards my feet, which is a bit annoying.

Get over yourselves

People have to start somewhere so give them a rest, and if it wasn't for yootz trying to copy other artists cause they give dem bare respek where would your genre be now..... nowhere all music evolves and besides the fact you get sent all these waste tunes is surely a sign dubstep is thriving and you getting dolla!

realize that "alot" means good? bet you feel stupid about your capitals now...missedthebus wrote:This thread is ALOT.
It's a shame that this thread exists cause a lot of people's feelings are gonna get hurt yeah, but imo this is an ACTUAL problem and we shouldn't have to point it out to people that they shouldn't be releasing their tunes until they've got something original and mature to release. Yes this happens in loads of genres whatever but like the exciting thing about dubstep was that it had an experimental edge which is missing in so many new productions. Yeah we could just 'low it and say nothing let it happen (at the end of the day, it aint gonna turn around, forum bant wont change shit..), but just think about how this correlates to nuff brehs going elsewhere for their bass fix now: funky, wo(a)nky, etc...

I have vinyl records and I play them
I don't like this thread becasue it's so..pompous
sure
everyone that was there in the beginning gets certain nods, but sometimes you gotta let shit go
if I had invented dubstep, I might be a tad pissy about people from all over the world creating it
but at the same time, it's kudos to the originators
maybe we should take the forum offline for a few days again so everyone can reflect on what dubstep has done for them lately

totally agree. good music always gets through...always.SILKIE wrote:the problem is there is this concept of a dubtep noah of arch and people feel like the boat is gonna leave the dock soon so whether they are ready or not they have gotta get as much people as possible hear there music or ill be left behind. first impressions is alot so if u let the mass hear the raw material before its toned up their opinion of u is hard to shake and may for years even though u have vastly improved not listen to ur stuff when they see ur name.
the question is how much work and how long a graft are you're willing to go through to get your name out there? what are you bringing to the table thats different and stands out? a lot of people just want to sit at home and click buttons on myspace/fcbk and think that they'll be sensations by the morning with worldwide acceptance. that can happen for maybe 3 or 4 people out of 1000...but 98% of the others won't be that lucky.
these trains of thought don't really work....
make demo tunes>send these tunes to the biggest dubstep labels on myspace(even though you've not met any of those people in real life or even tried to establish a relationship...just "here's my cdr. listen to it")
make demo tunes>send them to all the big dj's calling it "the most gangster shit you've ever heard" in the email while eating a bowl of soup and wearing knives and bandannas on your myspace.
this is better...
make tunes>send them to friends>get feedback>more work on them>send them to a local dj to see its response in a local club while you're there watching>refine tunes some more>send tunes to one specific big name dj that plays a similar sounding style>see if you get feedback>if not, send to another big name dj>go to parties. go meet people and drink with them. if you don't live near a big party, get a job and get your shit together.
most people are lazy, straight up.
