making music since 90-91 (guitar/bass/percussion), drummed in a punk band 93-97. Been making music digitally since 98. Roots are in hiphop/turntablism as far as that goes. Then moved into making breaks/dnb round 99 and everything else i could possible get myself into shortly after that.

I've been "producing" now for 4 fucking years on the same fucking laptop with the same fucking software, and have uploaded approximately 0 fucking songs on to the goddamn fucking internet.

Mind you, after 4 years, I should be pretty pro at what I'm using, right?

Wrong, my friend! I couldn't tell you what half the fucking buttons do on this thing, or how to do the simplist of musical maneuvers.
I might as well just throw the laptop down the stairs a couple of times while using the 'Microsoft Sound Recorder' to speak Tongues over the experience, before going into my room, loading both barrels and then shooting myself in the face, because my production SUCKS.

played cello from age 5-13, obtained a grade 8 in classical theory. helped a cpl local indie groups with their tunes....then go into music production in 2003, only really did it as a personal hobby, One month ago, my home was busted into,,,and three externals and two mac books, and with it about 90% of anything and everything i have ever made since 2003. So,,,,,,,2009 i guess im startin fresh,

Played cello classically for 24 years, composing instrumental music for 20 years, played in various bands and improvisation groups for 18 years... then started producing classical radio broadcasts 11 years ago... which lead me to start working with digital audio and such...

So it has been about 10 years now - that I have used a computer to make my music (not all of it is electronic music).

Electronic/Computerised Production - 2 1/2 years

I've been making music since I was a littl'n though... started flute in primary school (got to Grade 6 before putting it down again IIRC) and picked up guitar and drums when I was a teenager.

Was making Dnb about 3-4 years ago on Sony Acid then moved onto FL studio.

Started playing Violin and learning classic theory when I was like 5 and I've been doing some form of music ever since (played violin, drums, keyboard and guitar) so I'm pretty good at musical theory and composing songs. Started messing around with computers and digital samplers in school when I was like 15 or 16, took my first music production course at 16 which got me started on MIDI production. Started making my own beats properly a bit after that when I had finished my eJay period so I guess I've been making beats for about 6 years now.

Only been making dubstep type stuff since last August though.

Started producing back in '94 using an old Atari 1040STF and Cubase and a shit load of outboard gear.

Sold all my hardware in '99 to travel around the US.

Went on to study Audio Engineering in '03 at SAE London during which I got back into making music, this time using Reason 2.5.

Now on V4 and loving it (apart from the writers block.... still...)
Keep on keeping on...

Under a year.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
