Stop Choking Dubstep

Post by atomik chronic » Mon May 11, 2009 9:30 pm

All genres grow, music is organic as well as the creative process.

The creative aspects of the mind react negatively, contracting & withdrawing like the human body wants to in freezing weather, when confronted with improperly judgmental flak.

Look at heavy metal, with all the 12-13 year old kids picking up a guitar for the first time rocking out. But it's a 35+ year old scene. So what if there are newbies and posers? Quality prevails..all humans can recognize it.

Hating on young or new producers who've never attempted synthesis in their life for makin' wobblers...as FANS or even TRIBUTE PAYERS...come on guys that is out of LOVE lol.

All music scenes do the same thing after they reach a critical point in success. It's to be expected. There are innovators, and tribute payers, and failures.

The important thing to do is focus more on PRAISING the things being done RIGHT and IGNORING/SHUNNING the negative. Adopted on a large scale, I've seen this attitude completely turn a scene (& not just music) around in a positive direction.

Shittiness is useless. Your attention is power. Don't give your power to useless shittiness.

The fastest dying music scenes are ironically the ones with lots of insecure faux-elitism.

PRAISE QUALITY.

Good posting!

However it's a bit harder to make a good heavy metal or so record. You must go in a studio with good recording equipment, preamps, microphones.... and that's expensive...

But in electronic music, everybody can make it and the scene is very very large and by developing of social networking, digital labels, very very easy to share. And in the seas of tunes every day it's sometimes hard to recognise some individual in the ocean of producers :)

But I love that people today have the opportunity to create quality music straight from their homes, without any expensive music equipment. Looking on long term, this will develop music enourmously and that is AMAZING!

So BIG UP everyone making and enjoying the sound!!!!

I don't know what rocks people live under these days or if they're just new to the scene but the scene is MASSIVE compared to when I got into it and a lot of people I know got into it.. So to me, the scenes on at least on its 4th wave of new breed coming through and shaping the sound - of course theres gunna be people who don't support! I admit I give the odd sly dig at a few people but I always go.. "yeah, you could do this better, bring that snare down a bit.. boost this, maybe try this" etc but to be honest - hate is good as long as people don't' take it to heart and realise they're just ignorant and use that for inspiration.

Specially the newer producers, they have to learn that the negetitive can be made into positive and look at people like Cookie or whatever his name was - who got slagged off for 50 odd pages or something and I swear I see his name on wax these days! I think you can't moan about it and you can't change it - the scenes to big now and its lost its family vibes and its more of a community now instead of a big extended family so go reclusive and do your thing people and just get on with it.

Keep it up, keep things moving, keep pushing things forward!

Yea gotta nurture the talent, the kids who are using dubstep as their first grounds for their production now, are going to be the ones pushing the next sound through in the future
