loving how things got nailed here and without much disturbances from people who used to practice it as a sport!

all i feel to add is some folks shouldn't see media like an entity with its own agenda, because media is in the hands of some people, very few people, that have often been seen at the same table with the leaders of this world, so a distinction between the capital that biases the media reports and the one that pushes the most unacceptable laws is very probably wrong.

and loved how 10bag lays a light on the definition of terrorism, why we're at it...

i made a thread about the latest RFID technology as presented by Siemens at some meeting of theirs, things that are a secret just for people who don't want to look into them, Siemens speaks openly about it like it's the coolest gprs for your mini. creepy shit, look it up!

You wanna talk about how fucked up our society is?
let's talk about the fiat money system!
All of our money only has value becuase we ascribe it value - ie, it isn't backed by Gold or Silver or any other sort of commodity. Money can theoretically therefore be created out of 'thin air' so to speak

When you go to the bank for a loan, they aren't lending you money out of the big stack of cash - they actually create the money when you sign the piece of paper saying you promise to pay it back (in practice only 10% of the money you borrow has to actually exist in reserves)

This means that if one person (or the government) pays in £10 billion to a bank, that money can go on to CREATE a further £80 billion out of nothing.
This means that as time goes on the currency gets more and more inflated, until it loses all value.

This may seem rational considering that your debt is backed by assets, but when you realise that this is how the government gets money, by borrowing it from the Bank of England (in return for government bonds) you can see how fucked our economy is. The government borrow all the money that is in the economy WITH INTEREST from the B of E, meaning that all the money in circulation is actaully only the principle, and we owe interest to the banks. SO if all the money in the world isn't enough to pay back the debt it was created out of, what happens? We pay it back through Labour and time. Meaning essentially that as time goes on we will be more and more enslaved by the debt that our money is created out of.

I think....
that's kind of a work in progress lol, obviously this is a more condenced version of the whole picture cuz i didnt wanna write an essay. but it's pretty interesting, basically in a nutshell inflation and debt are inevitable elements of our money system.

Anyone who disagrees or knows some more feel free to refute it - i'm here to learn not to preach!

^truth man. i wish i could understand finaces & ting properly though. its not for lack of trying, its just really confusing and boring.

what does everybody think about the new laws disallowing us to photograph or film policemen?
if you can't film them, how can you prove they're out of order?

i challenge any cynics to come up with a good reason for not being able to film the police. the police are meant to work FOR society, not against them. we should be in charge of this country and its laws/policies, but clearly we aren't, and its pretty much a democratic dictatorship if there is such a thing.

how in the fuck can tony/gordon/barack say we're free if we're not even free to film policemen? they're free to film us...do we have to join the police force to be free?

I reckon economics and finances are made to look boring by the main stream media, by using all the shitty jargon, so that people just ignore it cuz if you look at it money (and in turn power) is at the center of all these debates really.

If you want to know more, and if you can chat about politics this stuff really is straight forward, then watch the video 'money as debt' on youtube for a introduction.
then perhaps zeitgeist addendum, which although very sensationalist (and im about 90% sure a tool of a the new world order) it explains the flaws of the economic system really well.

If you reaaaally want to get stuck in read a book called naked economics by charles wheelan. It's such a simple, easy to read and even enjoyable book, but it taught me so much just about general economics and how 1) simple and intuitive it is and 2) how 99% have really basic misconceptions on how politics and economics actually works.

There has never been absolute freedom in society - that's what society is... it's a system of rules, attitudes and structures that guide the way we live our lives so that as many of us can live together without constantly having fights or wars. If we all went around doing exactly what we wanted, we'd probably conflict with each other a lot more.

Yeah, it's definitely slid too much in the last few years and things like the amount of CCTV and data collection need to be curbed (and I'd like to see changes in laws to give us freedom in how we treat our own bodies) , but I don't think you can have absolute freedom within a society.... I think the original quote is a bit shortsighted.

Give me dollars when I'm hard up, religion when I die."

nobody said absolute freedom, just enough freedom to make life enjoyable
some people are not that easy to please like the iPhone fan club

i think what you had in uk not more than 10 years ago was free like a porn carnival compared to what's now

The original poster used the phrase "full dominion over their public and private lives".

I think your statement is true from a lot of angles - however we're actually have a fair bit more freedom to communicate, collude and independently organise ourselves these days - the internet has been a massive boost to freedom all across the globe.

I agree in the main, though, just making a little sanity check.
