dubstep/dmz

Post by farmaz » Sun Jan 01, 2006 7:31 pm

Been hunting for any digital mystikz sets but cant seem to find any.

Do they record the sets from the events they hold, or any one know where to download any sets of pure dmz tunes?.......

As far as dubstep goes the only stuff i heard is from Vexd from there Degenerate lp & that "goat stare" tune which was sick. Any help would be gladly recived.

Any recomended "classic" dubstep tunes to check out?.......

Only been hearing dubstep for the last month or so but imo it's the best music coming from the uk so far, grime aint all that imo. Dubstep kinda blew my mind like the first time i heard Hellfish, remarc or bong ra.

Alright man, the best source for sets is here:

http://dubstep.blogspot.com/2005/07/mixes.html

As far as I know, there have been no recodings of DMZ sets as yet..

2 entirely DMZ sets:

http://dubstep.kicks-ass.net/mixes/othe ... -05-05.zip
http://dubstep.kicks-ass.net/mixes/othe ... -12-04.zip

Rinse sets with Loefah & Mala:

http://dubstep.kicks-ass.net/mixes/rins ... -08-05.zip
http://dubstep.kicks-ass.net/mixes/rins ... -10-05.zip
http://dubstep.kicks-ass.net/mixes/rins ... -09-05.zip

As for classic dubstep tunes, pretty much most of the Tempa, DMZ, Hotflush, Hyperdub releases are essential..there's a discography on Dubway's blog which is a good reference point.

I forgot to mention Big Apple..they released the first Loefah, Digital Mystikz, Skream and Benga tunes..

I've never taken it..i read about it in a book called 'Coin Locker Babies' by Ryu Murakami http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coin_Locker_Babies ..it is used in revenge in the climax..

The FWD and DMZ crews really should be recording their nights though, like AWOL etc. in jungle times. Those old sets still give me shivers - hearing the tunes and the crowd together in the room. The Plasticman/FWD disc is a good start though.
