and if blackdown got off digital mystikz and kode 9's dick and everyone else they hand pick for a short trip to cliquesville for one sec and wrote about stuff going on in the wider dubstep sphere i'd be positively ecstatic...

Are you suggesting that he just reports on everything and doesn't give his opinion? That would be boring. The only point of reading someone's blog is because you find their take on things a useful filter for what's going on. I've found Blackdown's blog and Pitchfork column really informative over the years and it's got me listening to stuff I probably wouldn't have been aware of otherwise. A lot of that is because he seems to have his own idea of how he wants things to develop.

You don't have to agree with everything a blogger or journalist says to see that they have a valid contribution to make. If you disagree with Blackdown's take on things ignore him or, better still, start your own blog to draw attention to stuff you're into and balance things out a bit.

Enjoyed the KM mix by the way. They're doing their own thing and it's sounding good.

mate seriously, he greatly enjoys those artists by the looks of it, and im sure he doesnt give a fuck if you think he;s 'on their dicks'. i would be more than happy to clamber upon mala or kode's throbbing members.

Scuba is pretty shit though, that 1st album was complete wastestep. Headhunter's 4x4 stuff is in a completely different league. But yeah...

Well I like his older tunes, Aqualung is my shit. I just think besides about 2 tunes the whole album was mind numbingly boring. I just dont like his balance between melodic minimal techno and dubstep which actually works in the dance (at least for me and I assume most UK listeners) I know DJs and producers bum him down, but really for me as a dubstep listener/raver he just doesnt pack enough punch.

It's not necessarily a dancefloor album. It's got tunes that work well in a set but taken as a whole it's best listened to at home on headphones. It's hardly the only thing that's come out of the dubstep scene like that. Most of the Kode 9 & Space Ape album and both Burial albums are best listened to at home. Doesn't make them any less good. If anything it means they've got a bit more depth to them and are not just making straight-forward DJ fodder.

i agree with you for some parts - i think theres a very think line between minimalist and boring, lifeless music. Dont get me wrong some of it is amazing, some of Pinch's tunes are unbelievable, scuba likewise but in general i think a lot of the minimalist heads are afraid to admit that some of their favourite producers are actually making pretty boring music sometimes.

That mix was really good though, i certainly wouldnt put it on while having a pre club mashup but for the bus on the way home its perfect. After reading the interview it made me analyze the music a lot more, i noticed a lot of the subtle changes loefah was talkin about in his drum patterns.

Maybe you fucking should and check about who fucking wrote all of it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but slaggin off on Blackdown like you have is uncalled for.

and as i said earlier, this mix is great and is still one of the best interviews ive read.

Producers have and did reinterpret/evolve garage/breaks, it's known as dubstep.
